we know there are two toys, a football and the pigskin, implying that both american football and soccer exist in azeroth. why dont we see any stadiums or the game ever played do you think? it would be cool if each major starting zone had its own “home” football field where teams played soccer and NFL style football with eachother.

Well… can you trade between factions and races? If not it wouldn’t be fair. If the Alliance was the AFL, and the Horde were the HFL, the HFL would win the Super Bowl every year. People would lose interest.

That’s a good point. There’d have to be rules in place about taurens using their horns or something too. Maybe there could be a free agency and any race could join any team.
imagine a tauren trying to do a header in soccer and he just destroys the ball with his horns. smh.

Might make more sense to limit the teams to racial cities, rather than zones. Even those that don’t exist no more.

If you had to build a team, what lore characters would you try to recruit for a specific positions?
I would totally have Garrosh as DE and Vojin in my secondary.

Anduin is almost destined to be QB since he almost, sort of, not really, looks like Sunshine from Remember the Ttians. Baine and Ebonhorn alone could probably provided all the protection he needs on the line.
Greymane and Crowley would be WR because I’d imagine that worgens are good at playing fetch. Trying to remind them to run towards the endzone and not back to Anduin would be the key here.

EDIT: Baine would definitely play for an Alliance team.
He looks like your typical popstar QB… but when you give it some more thought, think how short he is compared to who is gonna be on defense. You might want a night elf or troll or something back there.

As long as he has the arm strength for it, he can just chuck the ball down field for hail mary plays on every down and his worgen receivers can do the rest.
And that play would be fitting for him since he’s a priest.

Only because of the tough pre-season training they put in, but I think that might have … burned them out.
On another note: The pummeler robot boss from Motherload also launches Footbombs, so it looks like that is at the least a Goblin passtime.

I really love all this conversation about Azeroth sports. I feel like there should be, at some point, some sort of pan-Azeroth Olympics, maybe? The idea that sports are a good way to build good-will and foster relationships between the races and factions has some real world examples, after all. And they don’t always work out, either. Still we have enough neutral organizations that finding judges for that sort of thing wouldn’t be hard.
I do also really love the idea of the AFL and the HFL. Kind of wishing someone would do a podcast about this now as weekly news announcers, much in the vein of y’all and those horrible puns of yours.

A while back I did make a thread around the idea of an Olympic style event in WoW.
And it was either in that thread or another where someone had an idea about having a battleground that is sports-centric, similar to Huttball in SWTOR, instead of the normal “battles” we have currently.
