for pvp, i die in a few hits, and my damage isnt great against those with gear…
also i oom incredibly fast… Just wondering if enhance gets better in pvp with better gear… Cuz atm i think i have decent gear, but i could be wrong…
Shaman get a lot of benefit from stats, so you will scale with better gear.
What many enh shamans forget is that you are not a pure physical dps class, you are a hybrid, so you still gain a lot of your damage from spells and mana-costing abilities. And, because an enh shaman is not chain casting, you gain a lot more from spirit than you would think. Shamans have a bonus to their spirit gains, unlike the warlock penalty.
Unfortunately, the best gear for enhancement is a reward from… pvping a lot ZG and AQ have some good enhancement-specific gear, so if you’re unable to stand the grind of pvp, wait until those patches drop.
I generally agree with you, but one quibble; enhancement in PVP gains basically zero benefit from spirit.
Between shocks (6 second cd), totems, lightning shield, and stormstrike, we’re pretty much always out of regen-zone even though we may regularly go 3-4 seconds without casting anything.

That is true, but I didn’t say “a lot from spirit”, I specifically said “more than you think”. Most shamans treat spirit as an utter dump stat and abhor all gear with any spirit on it, when it’s simply a lesser priority secondary stat. I’m not saying to stack spirit, but shamans gain a bonus benefit from it when they are outside the 5sec. So things like after you have killed someone and you are running up the flag tunnel, you will be outside the 5 sec. Sure, you can sit and drink, but why not be on the move with your Dancing sliver +9 spirit swapped in?
Then swapped out to ele and proceeded to roflstomp my way to exalted with little to no gear comparatively. There is nothing like deleting people once every 3 minutes.
I don’t think you understand just how little difference it makes.
Yes, you can swap in a spirit weapon when you drink, if you want, it will reduce the time required slightly. But you shouldn’t consider spirit a priority (or even a value to any significant degree) on your actual gear.
Again, enjoy being Oom as enhance because you’re treating your shaman like a dps warrior. You are not. If you’re going oom in the middle of a fight is means you don’t have enough intellect front-end to get through your cast demand. (Mp5 isn’t going to matter in-combat in pvp because fights are generally short)
If you are spending too much down-time between fights and after kills, it means you don’t have enough regen. Shamans aren’t rogues and warriors.
You have no concept of what you’re even discussing, here.
Spirit is a bad stat for enhancement. It is not something we want on our gear, because we GET ZERO BENEFIT IN COMBAT FROM IT. I could have ten billion spirit and it wouldn’t do a thing for me running oom in combat.
Intellect, on the other hand (which I have not previously mentioned in this thread)? Fantastic stat. Enhancement needs tons of it.
The amount that spirit reduces downtime is not worth wasting combat stats on. By all means, equip a spirit set between combats if you want, save a few seconds. But water is going to be your primary regen method, as it should be.
(Spell power, incidentally, is also a fantastic stat for PVP enhancement. You’re right that we shouldn’t gear like a warrior/rogue. Too bad no one here said that we should.)
Most players don’t get benefit from spirit or mp5 in-combat in pvp because fights are short. I am specifically referring to between fights, as I already mentioned in my example. I already mentioned that intellect is for going oom in combat.
IMO, nope. I think enhancement is incredible and possibly one of the best specs in the game below lvl 40. Mid 40s all the way to 60 it’s not great unless you have the perfect gear and even then it’s not on par with other classes.
I played Enhancement from 10-60, raided as enhancement, and pvped as enhancement up until a couple weeks ago. I just got tired of it. I did alright DPS in raids, but honestly sucked in BGs at lvl 60. I couldn’t stand toe to toe against a warrior and trying to win a ranged fight against a Hunter or warlock was just pathetic.
I loved open world PvP below lvl 40 though. Was able to destroy classes often and even when they got the jump on me.
