Does DPS matter in heroic dungeons?

Just curious, I’m a tank of course and I was just in a heroic dungeon trying to get some gear because I just hit 120 about a day or so ago.

Anyways we had this rogue who was top of the dps charts and he was being abusive to a druid dps for doing low damage.

I didn’t say anything, of course as I didn’t wanna start an argument or make him flame me. But I was just wondering because it’s only a heroic dungeon, and we were all there trying to get gear, was it really necessary to abuse the poor druid?

I’m not sure what his ilvl was but the druid was only doing about 3-5k dps compared to the rogue that was doing about 15k.

Why join a dungeon if you’re not gonna do anything?

To be fair, the druid was kind of bad. He kept dying by standing in fire and such. But it’s only a heroic dungeon, I thought of it more of a learning experience instead of trying to go hardcore on everything.

Still, wouldn’t it have been better to tell the druid what he was doing wrong instead of flaming him?

Heroic Dungeons are easy. I wouldn’t sweat it.

People are jerks, this is something players will need to accept in this genre of game. If people can’t accept jerks then they’ll need to not do pug group content or just find a single player game. If Blizzard starts suspending and banning accounts due to attitudes and being abusive towards players then this could change but until then, you have to accept it.

As long as things are dying it doesn’t really matter.

As long as they are actually playing and not just afk auto hitting I wouldn’t bother anyone about heroic dungeon dps. You’re not likely to not be able to do it.

i would say let everyone have a chance to learn and enjoy the game. Everyone started off from a noob before being pro. Hack i rememeber back in MC i was a warlock, when i oom i wanded the boss instead of lifetap.
A little bit of critics is ok but being when someone is being abusive, i can only guess he forgotten that he was a noob once. At that moment i think a senior gamer should step in and put a stop when its too much

Peeps who are abusive instead of helpful aren’t helping the game or themselves.

I ran a bm hunter alt last patch and I had a pug BM hunter in a M9 I was tanking and she was only at 11k dps… so I spoke with her a bit and we kept chatting for a few weeks and she hit 19k and then 26k by the end of the season.

I’m now trying my own outlaw rogue and I have improved from 18k to 28k dps, but I would soooo welcome help from highly experienced rogues - tips are great. It’s hard to learn from “you suck” as a general rule of thumb.

Nope. In fact, since finding a new DPS is pretty much instantaneous, it would be appropriate to ask your party if they’d rather find a DPS that doesn’t verbally abuse them.

And then kick the toxic player.

As a general rule of thumb, class discords are the best place for getting info these days.

They typically have guides or link to guides in the FAQ’s or resources tab and they’re active enough that if you have a question that falls outside those boundaries, they’re active enough that most questions get answered fairly timely.

Edit: Here’s the Rogue Discord.

It should to an extent. You don’t want to gimp the group. I did a few as 120, outgearing the group and content, and I saw some really crummy behavior from the dungeon lead person to healer or another time to just a low dps person.

When I was there… literally melting things on my DH.

Honestly wanted to tell the person to calm the f down.

Weird personalities. It’s what essentially has me not doing PuGs. Legion had me open my eyes, I just said no to that. Friggin unstable ego-maniacs on raid leader trips that spazz every second or some nobody just harassing others for trivial nonsense.

I mean, I dunno. If it’s just heroic half the time you can solo those in benthic gear. Just having a body that’s not afk is usually good enough.

Indifference against bullies doesnt make you look good. It’s a heroic dungeon. If the guy wasn’t AFK he shouldn’t get yelled at. Rogue was on a power trip obviously. Hate those kind of aholes

The solution to these situations is to put the person on ignore, and suggest the rest of the group do so as well. The one thing people like this can’t handle is being ignored. You can also offer advice if you have any for the druid, most newer people appreciate help from experienced players. And especially at this point, where I can basically solo a heroic and dps just makes it go faster, DPS is not that important in a heroic. It’s just there to gear new characters and alts.

That’s why I said, it should matter to an extent. Not everyone can solo it, and it just is kinda unfair. But it shouldn’t be of HUGE importance.

But why.

Stop wasting your time in dungeons, go do WQs.

Here’s how I look at it don’t be a jackass it’s a heroic dungeon and wow is a game that is too be enjoyed. No point in worrying about dps. Maybe they are learning, having a bad day, or even just trying to have fun and may not be the best at the game. There is no reason to start griefing people in this game especially in a heroic dungeon.

BEING a jerk is quite unacceptable. That is something that the jerks need to accept. Call out rude behaviour. Way more often than not, the rest of the group will back you up. That is, unless you’ve encountered jerks during their mating season. Then they travel in packs and there’s little you can do…

Better question do heroic dungeons matter?

I think with level scailing normal then M/M+ makes more sense. The role of heroic dungeons doesnt really make sense anymore… especially the further on in a xpac lifecycle you go.
