Does + defense work in pvp?

ok so the best twink libram enchant is +100 health on legs for a rogue? couldn’t a +3defense be both cheaper and give a decent affect to incoming damage to midigate the +100 health? are they comparable?

No. In ideal circumstances +3 defense is .36% survivability increase against melee for rogue. For 100 hp to be worse than that, you’d have to have like 20k health. Actually more since your health is protected by armor/resistances.

ok… but… the Librams enchants are like… 300g a pop. I cant afford that… or more… justify it.

Having the best doesn’t come cheap. Either get the best or don’t.

Both, and dodge/parry. But the boosts are too small to be relevant. 100hp enchants would make more sense. Defense doesn’t do anything vs enemy spells or arrows. You can’t dodge a frost bolt or multi shot. This is why I like 100hp. Health will help you vs ANYTHING, and is thus your only reliable defensive stat in PVP.

I totally understand what you’re saying, and going after +100 health over Defense makes perfect sense for it being good against all match up.

I’m just looking to be clear for my own mind to shut up. If you had a level 49 twink. with +10 Defense. Would this make it so, when enemy players attack you in melee, it would be like attacking a level 51 player? but for melee only?

For instance a druid with that staff of the warden or what ever its called that has +10 defense on it. ??

You do effectively gain levels, but 10 skill or defense is only 2 levels, not 10. If you look at the skill sheet, you can notice that it’s level x 5. So 10 skill is only boosting you 2 effective levels. It’s also only 1 direction, unless you boosted skill+defense, and they still don’t affect magic.

Thank you that was finally the answer i was looking for. a 49 druid with +10 defense points is equal in Melee combat only to being level 51 player.
