none , the market is what influences them, like many companies now , they want to get a piece of the chinese market thats why they catter to the chinese laws and stuff
Pretty much this. A lot of sweeping decisions are related to the Chinese market because of how much revenue it actually is for Activision.
This is also a large part of why Blizzard has largely died beneath its new overlords. Our Eastern gamers want different things, and they’re a larger marketplace to appease.
Maybe I’m naive, but is the northern American market not lucrative enough?
There’s simply more people with more money in Asia than there is in the North American market.
An even better example than gaming is Disney. They dare not piss off China because it’s such a massive portion of their profits nowadays.

Share holders always want more profit. There is a lot of profit to be made in Asia and China specifically.
