I know we have exhilaration, which is a joke of a heal. But every single class i face in arena has 400k-1mil personal healing.
What does BM hunter or hunter in general have? I might be missing something so i wanted to ask the professionals.

Spirit Bond heals for quite a bit
If you play spirit beasts, Spirit Mend is a lot of healing (that you can use on teammates too)
Also most people run with full pve CoS gear that has passive self healing. Why is it not disabled in arenas? No one knows.

Spirit Bond is Survival only now, BM & MM do not get that passive healing anymore.
Basically to maximize self healing as hunter you want to stack full Vers gear, impassive visage (the hps scales with Vers) traits, pickup a pair of the mail legs from CoS (they proc quite often with BM/Surv, not so much as MM), and if you have a tank friend have him trade you a Diamond Prism from BoD.
BM Spirit Beast heal (30 sec cooldown) and the Purge they provide is good but situational. They are a good pick ONLY if you can play with another class with an MS effect like Arms, WW, or Rogue. Otherwise I would not recommend dropping an MS pet for a spirit beast in arena.
Try a ferocity pet with MS as well for the 10% leech, (15% with aspect of the beast talent) you will give up pet freedom for the extra self healing you gain from doing damage but it’s worth it. The self healing also helps to keep your pet alive because It also self heals from damage. I tend to use my Raven pet for extra self healing against rot teams (Spriest, Boomy) and against teams I can’t kite well enough and the extra healing helps more then the freedom (TSG/Turbo/TWD).

yes, yes it does. Quite a lot.
I run spirit beast vs a lot of RMx teams for the extra dispell and purge. I end up healing for 300k to 600k in longer fights with spirit mend (and I can use it on teammates also).
I also use spirit beast a lot in 2s vs hpal and disc healers. I always use MS pets vs rsham and rdruid in 2s or 3s.
I don’t use any pve healing or tanking gear as BM.
I run with 2 different sets of gear. I have around 20% versatility set which I use in 2s or if I am the kill target in 3s. If I am not the kill target I run a full glass cannon build with 25+ haste and less than 5% vers.
Rethum knows his stuff and is also one of the top BM hunters currently playing.
I prefer BM hunter currently because I don’t feel like I have to stack a lot of gimmick pve gear. I can kite and use positioning for defense.
Your mileage may vary.
There’s a handful of better BM hunters on the ladder, but I have 2 hunters over 2500 currently.
I’ve had friends tell me to try the spirit beast for RMX comps but it seems like on paper we would struggle to get cooldowns and possibly just have Mage steal the pet heal? I may have to test this more extensively to make a solid judgment on it.
Most of the time it helps more than it hurts. I win the arguments with my partners after showing them the win / loss stats with ms vs spirit beast pets.
We win a lot higher % of games due to the free purge, heals on teammates, and 20% wall I can use on myself.
Try 10 games of each and you might be surprised.

I run KFC with Fury/BM/Rsham
Yeah mage will steal the pet heal, but it also has an instant component which can crit, sometimes your pet shocks someone back to life.
I have also found pretty decent success with bm hunter and spirit beast, ive only played like 100 games but I win about 55-60% of them.
BM has heaps of healing, spirit mend is like a 35-40% heal every 30 seconds, camouflage provided you run into the right situation to drop combat with no dot’s + 1 min 15 exhilaration if you talent for it. If I duel mages on my hunter I basically press 4 buttons then afk.

Yeah for whatever reason they moved it to Surv with the BFA pre-patch. Weird decision imo
