Does Blizzard/Writers even remember Feathermoon Stronghold Exists?

…did Blizzard just forget they have an entire Stronghold down in Feralas?

Hell, does Shandris forget she has a Stronghold to protect?

I don’t think Feathermoon Stronghold has been mentioned once in-game by Shandris in like 3-4 expansions now, even though she’s been used quite often since Legion, and has been forefront on the Alliance side in BFA’s War Campaign.

Garrosh’s goal in destroying Theramore was to take control of Kalimdor (because he wanted to wipe out the Night Elves for some reason according to the book), because Theramore was apparently the Alliance’s only port to send troops to Darnassus.

What else do they have? Oh yea. Feathermoon Stronghold, which is also a port.

Sylvanas’s entire reason for the original march on Darnassus was because she wanted to stop the Alliance from having a port to ship their Azerite to Stormwind from.

Wait a second, what port do the Alliance have that’s closer to Silithus than Darnassus? You guessed it, Feathermoon Stronghold.

Sylvanas wanted total Horde control of Kalimdor? No biggie. Blizzard even said at BlizzCon, the only stronghold on Kalimdor Alliance has left is the Exodar.

Oh wait, no it isn’t. There’s literally Feathermoon STRONGHOLD.

I understand that the “Stronghold” was technically destroyed during Cataclysm, but it’s been rebuilt. The new name is technically New Feathermoon, but it’s referenced as Feathermoon Stronghold in-game when you talk to NPCs, including Shandris, while questing in Feralas, many times. It has been rebuilt.

It is never mentioned that the Stronghold has been destroyed in any book, quest, etc. and at the end of Feralas questing on the Alliance side, they outright state we’ve bolstered their defenses enough that they will have it built up even further in no time.

So how can something that would impact the story so much, be overlooked by the writers so much?

For instance, why didn’t the Night Elves go to Feathermoon, instead of Stormwind after Darnassus burned? Tyrande was so intent on revenge, why didn’t she fight from where they already had a strategic advantage, instead of trying to invade Darkshore, that they had already lost?

I was honestly hoping they’d make Eldre’thalas or whatever the dire maul place was called the new night elven capital, since it’s also in the same zone…

Hope the night elves aren’t just stuck as hobos in that gross human capital forever

Two reasons:
1.) Tyrande and the nelves read the script and
2.) Every Alliance plot must be centered around humans.

But it was mentioned in “A Good War.” Where do you think the Night Elf army dropped off when they were going to Silithus?

They have so much potential!

You want them to pay attention to the old world zones? But they already did, by reworking all the portals to make old world travel more interesting.

That’s about all the old world rework budgeted for BFA. Maybe in 9.0 when they pick the NE story back up in any meaningful way. Aside from the obvious breadcrumb quests they’ll have in Nazjatar since technically 10k years in WoW’s constantly-retconned history, those naga were formerly NEs.

Don’t worry. Sooner or later it’ll be the Alliance hub they choose to blow up at the start of an expansion to establish whatever we’re fighting as a big threat.

I doubt Christie Golden remembers to dot her “i’s” and lower case “j’s.”

That’s a short story, not in-game. Which again, just establishes that the Stronghold is indeed still intact as of BFA.

Which makes everything motivation wise Garrosh and Sylvanas have done until BFA make zero sense, lore wise, as Alliance still have a stronghold and port in Kalimdor that is being completely ignored by the writers.

I never said it was destroyed. What I said is that they haven’t forgotten about it.

I’m sure Blizz meant that it was their last “real” stronghold. As Feathermoon Stronghold could easily be decimated in a day.

Also, Sylvanas is insane. So what’s the issue?

Why not? They forgot the Goats had a space ship during Darkshore

Because they had a massive population of civilian refugees. Stormwind is a city; they have food, housing, jobs. Feathermoon is just a military base.

It would be a reasonable place for them to dispatch what was left of their Ashenvale army, and for all we know that’s what they did, but the refugees really had nowhere else to go, and Tyrande would want to stay with them until they were settled.
