It seems as if blizzard does not even review reports anymore as there have been a group of 6 or 7 edgy children in Goldshire that have been calling me all kinds of names then saying the N word constantly with the hard -er at the end. At one point I was even dueling and they keep spamming in my PM that I’m a N word. They even were talking trash about my boyfriend. I know ignoring works but it seems like if I ignore one of them they get their friend to message me or some random. I’ve reported them countless times and even opened a ticket where a GM said he would take action according to policy immediately and they haven’t been banned, muted, or anything… Still acting extremely aggressive to everyone and just throwing the N word around like its nothing. Nobody reviews anything anymore. Its sad because since reporting seems to be on an automated system they could just tell all of their friends to report me and I’d be the one to get muted instead of them…
People are going to be rude.
It’s better to just get a thicker skin and consider them rude then to head down the Orwellian path of thought and speech police.
Blizz is on break until Easter just to go on break again. If anything follow Brolinka on Twitter to hear more about the newest movies
No, it’s better to hold people to the contract they agreed to when they accepted the terms of service required to play this game.
Report these toxic players each and every time. If you just shrug and say “oh well I have thick skin no biggie” those people will continue to act like toxic jerks.
Report them.
I get egregiously offensive cases like N word in these reports for being toxic, but where do we even draw the line for toxicity. People on GD want people perma banned for putting portals in AV lol. Where is that line being drawn
Did you read the TOS?
this is like a -5/10 reply, do better
Just keep reporting them. Don’t even reply to them, just keep reporting.
That’s how this whole thing works. Same with here on the forums.
Im not going to get baited. Have a good day.
Its the same thing in Overwatch too, report / block or ignore and if they get on an alt and keep on report again cause that will get them a nice action on their account cause it’s circumventing the system and blizz will give them the smack down for that quickly.
Well I think the most toxic thing you can say is calling people toxic. Since I get decide what’s an offense now should I report you?
That’s the problem with thought and speech policing. It’s all in the context and the eye of the beholder.
You know the ToS is super open gray field to where they see fit. I asked you to define specific boundaries in that ambiguity and you could not. You did a basic “WeLl ItS IN ThE ToS.” Go back to Facebook lol
Here’s a quote from an email to a ticket I logged a while back about a ban I got.
As you saw in the email the account has been suspended from the Forums temporarily for violating the Forums Code of Conduct. While the intention of what was said may not have been malicious, it’s important for us to provide a civil and friendly environment on the forums, where all players can feel comfortable sharing their thoughts with each other.
I’m genuinely curious as to what context in WoW you’d find the “n” word acceptable?
Thank you.
I find it extremely rude.
But I find the philosophy and principle and punishing people for rude speech a very dangerous road to travel.
The most pro-active thing you can do is put them on /ignore. Don’t wait for Blizz to get around to it. If/when Blizz does it is gravy, but if you block the harrassers they are going to get bored and quit or find another target that isn’t you. Either way you’re rid of them.
They don’t seem to unless the automated system kicks in, often see the same people breaking the same rules daily, for months and years. They say they do, but I have my doubts about that. It’s been downhill ever since they stopped doing in-game full ticket reports with a GM responding to you in game.
My question wasn’t about whether you found it rude. My question was about your thoughts as to any legitimate reason to use the “n” word in WoW. Is there a context this is acceptable? If not then the slippery slope defense simply protects illegitimate speech rather than freedom.
In a historical documentary, the word needs to be there. In reading Huckleberry Finn, the word needs to be there to give the relationships a context. However, in WoW, I do not believe there is a need to tolerate the hateful concepts behind that word and it should not be allowed.
I wonder if you actually read the OP or not. The behavior described is a far cry from rude, and is indisputably harassment warranting long silences at the very least, if not full on bans. This is assuming that the claim made here is true.
