pr gain? for what ? there’s no new customers for classic… plus all of these guilty ppl would scream bloody murder and swear they didn’t do nuffin.
you would be lucky if it wasn’t a bad pr move, and there’s nothing to gain

Its obvious why some of the posters here aren’t in charge of anything anywhere… “Just ban half your customers. It’ll work out. Trust me!”
If they had the cajones to ban buyers early and often then the culture of RMT wouldn’t have grown up and out of control like it is now. Back in the original cycle people didn’t break the rules like this because there was a very real fear if losing your account forever, not a slap on the wrist week ban at worst. There were GMs on payroll patrolling the servers making the game a better place.
I don’t know what can be done at this point, but adding the WoW token is admitting defeat and prescribing for the symptom instead of eliminating the source of demand in the first place.
as long as they dont lose subs equal to 1/3-ish the sales of tokens monthly they make money.
yes pr gain.
People have complained about it the entire time, that and Blizzard’s apparent inability to do anything about it or the bots that enable it as they overrun leveling BGs…
“Honestly” buying gold isn’t any better than “dishonestly” buying it. If RMT is bad for the game, it’s bad whether it’s through official channels or not. But Blizz has given up on fighting it, they’ll just take their slice of that pie and call it good. That’s a big part of the complaints about it.
It’s definitely not infinite. There were no tokens available on Classic for a bit already, because WAY more people were trying to buy them with gold than with $.
You have to figure how much it costs to have an item that people spend there own gold on to transfer to someone else.
Then realize its probably not 20 dollars per transaction and any of the RND probably has been covered a billion times over from when they did it on retail.
So ok, they don’t get the full 20. In Classic you can get game time. So worse case situation someone paying 15 so they only get 5. Some people might actually go like… less… because they would do like more than one month at a time right. But lets just say 5.
So imagine how many coins have been sold across all the servers of just Classic. You are going to have to guess because no way in hell they will tell you. Multiply that by 5. I am sure its not a dead even or loss is all I am saying.
Could I be wrong? Maybe… but… I seriously doubt it…
But it gets deeper.
