Does anyone young play WoW? Are there teens here anymore?

This is so true. I just want this crap show to be over so I can go back to all in person school.

I was gonna say you type like an adult if that makes sense.

Piddy-uther:
Curious what kind of problems he had. Did he level a character from scratch?

He did start from scratch. Blood Elf starting zone. Things that he had trouble with was: How do I repair my armor? where do I repair? Wheres a mailbox and how do I use it (sent him 4/30 slot bags)? How do I add and remove things from my action bars? Had issues with not doing much with his character (few spells and lack of meaningful talents).
Knowing what he should sell, example didnt know grays were just trash and should sell it. Nothing told him that stuff was worthless.
These are just a few examples.

Hey, 18 year old here, but most people in guilds I’ve been part of are around 25+, so seldom I actually talk to people I’ve met in game save a few exceptions.

It’s not even that they are boring, I usually prefer talking to older people, but I don’t know, conversation topics usually don’t match.

Yeah it makes sense. I spend way to much time typing. It’s actually a bit unhealthy says my doctor.

Society was never as fragile as it is today either. Everything is offensive to everyone now. Nearly anything can be considered hate-speech of some sort.

Not really…

I mean, look at FFXIV and games like OSRS for example.

I’m 23, and most of my friend group and most people I know comment that WoW is either dead or I hear something along the lines of like “Dude people still play that game??? lmao”

I did a bit of research and most of the websites about the most popular MMORPGs, including one that had been made two days before I read it, said that WoW has been and still is the champion of the MMORPGs.

Yea, thats fair.

Some of that is done on those loading screen tips (but honestly on a fast system, you may not notice those). I could see them adding a couple of little quests about getting mail or hitting the armorer for repair.

The game puts the bulk of your skills on the action bars for you, so that helps.

It’s a tough task to be sure.

Yeah, I mean, ESO is way over simplified with just 5 spells in my opinion and FFXIV feels like you got to really be into anime to resist the huge amounts of “cringe” that comes with the package.

Oh yeah, that’s true, in comparison to other MMOs.

I doubt though that MMOs are even popular at all as a genre, I specifically remember around the time I was playing Cata, the MOBA genre was pretty much overtaking the gaming world.

Now I think it’s BR.

Well that’s because they are massively underaged for the ESRB rating for the game.

At this rate WoW is going to become E for Everyone in 2025.

I’m sure some do. I notice a lot of teen gamers are drawn in pretty heavily by PvP games.

And any time i’ve seen a teen player in WoW, they’re almost always Horde PvPing.

I’m 33 and have been playing since I was 19, my little brother is 22 and he played for a little bit with his father a few years back. He moved in with me two years ago and was surprised to find out not only that I was still playing, but that it was even still around.

Obviously this is purely anecdotal, but I know with him and his friend group, it’s not about playing one game and sticking with it. They think subscriptions are absurd. Their big thing is to play the new game of the month. Kid has a massive library on steam of games that he blows through in a month with his friends and then it’s on to the next one.

I can only imagine it’s the same as the age group gets younger.

But he wanted to switch talents and specs. The game just assumed a role for him and there wasn’t a choice. That was here the big problem lay. Also nothing addressed how to add action bars to the screen. He ran out of room for new abilities after a time. Things like that we vets take for granted isn’t currently explained very well.

It is true that many of us who have been playing for a long time know these things and it’s not pointed out.

Exiles Reach addresses some of these things for a brand-new player but I do think we as a community need to be more understanding and helpful to those who ask for help. Instead of the arbitrary “get gud” reply.

Yea, it’s kind of an intractable problem to be honest. Blizz defers to folks making pleas to the community for answers, or dumping the support burden on to Google.

Not necessarily the best experience, but you don’t want to drop an inch thick tome on the new player either.

And, yea, honestly I have no idea what spec a new character is. I think they don’t get to even pick one until level 10, but I don’t remember.

I’m 25 and started playing at 20 and i’ve always been in and out of wow. legion kept me in the game…bfa…not so much. WoW currently hasn’t been the most new player friendly either, so that’s something to keep in mind. These changes they are doing will probably hopefully change that and gain more people.

Also my boyfriends little brother who is only 8 loves to play wow, he doesn’t really play solo though.

I think it’s crazy that like, people who’re way younger than me think that the subscription model is really dumb but nowdays most popular Triple A titles charge like 60 dollars for DLC and content packs and stuff frequently.

I remember when I was playing TBC when I was like in 5th grade I was making like 100 trial accounts because my parents thought paying 15 dollars per month was crazy, but nowdays spending hundreds of dollars on in-app stuff is normal

I just turned 20 and I definitely still play!
