Does anyone remember when

DPS used to cc different mobs each pull, the tank pulled one or two depending on grp and we all made sure we didn’t interrupt the cc? Now it’s pull pull pull and mass stun/cc and click buttons as fast as you can. When lust?

Whats your point? Times change. Time is money.

Bad take.

I like both styles of gameplay, personally, but there are different pleasures to the slow dungeon crawl vs melting your brain pumping in a mass pull of four packs on Enhancement.

Both are, in-fact, valid forms of fun and present different challenges.

In all honesty even to 10s assuming people know their class you can pull super conservatively. You’d have 1-2 kicks tops (and maybe a dispell or so).

It’s the Tiktok generation. If you can’t keep their attention in the first 15 seconds, you are screwed. CC takes too long to plan out, put into action, and maintain.

Sure. I also remembered when Mages only had to spam Frostbolt and Ret Paladins ran out of mana casting seals and judgement.

Times change. The game had to change.

Could people not simply be drawn to and find enjoyment from two different types of gameplay?

Turns out players get better and expectations get higher after 20 or so years

i memba! :grapes:

I long for the days of good gameplay. I remember back when a mage could lockdown a group of incoming mobs while the rogue kept the caster stunned and the tank was pulling into a corner or whatever was going on. Being able to be a superstar by pulling off some insane play and all the people in the group could see it and it felt good. Plays like intentionally pulling aggro and then ice blocking to reset back to the tank…all of that stuff. It’s ALLLL GONE!

They current dev team could use a forced playthrough of vanilla. Modern wow would be absolutely amazing if the fights were still technically involved. Pve is really just a phone game now. It’s sad.

Are we thinking of the same classic where raid bosses have 1 mechanic and die in 40 seconds?

I don’t want a dungeon filled with mini bosses that will 1 shot people if you miss an interrupt, or break a cc.

There is zero trash this season that will 1 shot you on a plus 10, other than maybe the totems in Stonevault.

If you look back to Dragonflight, lets say Ruby Life Pools on +20, that trash would rekt you if interrupts were slightly messed up, even in mythic gear.

No bosses died in 40 seconds. And the trash pulls were technical. A lot of old bosses were tank and spank but a lot of them actually required really plays to be made. There was a time when classes mattered and the game was built with encounters to utilize skillets. It’s a homogenized bowl of everything for everyone now and it shows big-time in play.

Nah, it’s just not as amazing and fun as people remember it. A group of 5, cc 2 mobs, nuke them down in seconds, break cc, nuke those down in 2 seconds … rinse repeat. Such excitement, much wow.

I do! Lots of fun and would be cool for that style to come back again (without the timer). But still very fond memories.

There was still some of this in Wrath, and you right it was so boring.

If you check logs Lucifron was killed in 42 seconds

You mean stacking fury warriors and rogues? Without even having a tank?

God forbid someone mistakenly pulls one of the casters in the middle (when you were doing the ring). Things got very messy!
