You know, the whole reason why Khaz Algar was important in the first place? A network of tunnels running around the heart of Azeroth… that thing we’re supposed to be protecting? It leads to the Manifold–the Titan McGuffin of McGuffins?
That’s okay, I don’t think Blizzard remembered it either.

The coreway was damaged. Clean it up.

The Manifold is not something you can be lead to by the Coreway, its every bit of Titan machinery on Azeroth. Memeber that giant area of titan stuff in Northrend? Udluar would be considered part of the Manifold.
The Coreway was built so the Titans could study Azeroth.

I remember that we “repaired” it at the start of the expansion and it’s still broken coming up on S3.
Apparently Earthen engineers operate the same way that highway repair crews operate.

Black blood is the new “what sword”… I would give the devs props if when Midnight or TLT gets here we DO go back to Rootlands or Undermine and the place is just legit a version of The Emerald Nightmare cause just a FLOOD of black blood corrupted the place cause we left it to fester over an expansion or two.

It’s in contract with the city government of Dornogal to clean it up. Unfortunately due to funding issues and corruption, they are now claiming that it’s actually within the jurisdiction of the Nerubians to fix it up.

I do recall the dialogue surrounding that storyline mentioning that it would probably take ‘hundreds of years’ to fully restore the Coreway, so the writers did kinda cover their butts with that one.

Don’t forget the Coreway lore was introduced when TWW was not a trilogy. The Coreway I’m certain was to come into play in the original 11.2, but now that the original 11.2 is The Last Titan, you won’t hear mention of it again until then.
Same with “the sword” we saw in the xpac reveal cinematic. Seems weird it hasn’t been mentioned again until you realize it’s just like the Coreway and will be a big part of The Last Titan.
No, originally it was one expansion. Metzen then looked at it and said, “There’s too much here, why not do it in a trilogy?”
Huh, where was this stated? The first I heard about TWW was the Blizzcon announcement where Metzen introduced the trilogy

With that spider portal and M+ portals the coreway is no longer important. Go ahead and shut it down.
By Metzen when it was announced, iirc.
I was really kind of hoping that World-soul Saga would be a steady Heart of Darkness style progression down The Coreway into ever increasingly currputed depths of Azeroth until we finally reach The World Soul and whatever else lies within.
But it’s off to space, next. That’s cool. I’m from space. It’s fine.

It’s a final fantasy 14 reference. In FF14, Sharlayan also attempted to dig a hole to get to the center of the world to commune with the ‘world spirit’. It actually comes into play later in FF14, though.
Maybe Blizzard will bring us back to the Coreway in The Last Titan. We’ll return to Dornogal in one of the patches to go to the center of the earth to contact Azeroth. But I kinda doubt it.
I’ll have to go rewatch the Blizzcon reveal later then cause i don’t remember that.

Anything being mentioned in some grandiose fashion when it comes to this game should be taken with a massive grain of salt because you will probably do a couple quests and then nothing will be done with it lol.

The Coreway was important the same way that a gate to a high security research facility is important. Ansurek’s plan, as far as we understand it currently, was to attack the Earthen on the topside of Khaz Algar in order to limit the possible counterattack on the Nerubians. This was done in belief that Xal’atath would help her rule whilst for Xal’atath this was so she could gather black blood infused Ascended.
For reference, so far every Black Blood plotline has been resolved currently. It is unlikely that we’ll see more of it until next expansion due to how the ethereals stole the Dark Heart which they are using in 11.2. Since the Black Blood was used in creating the Ascended nerubians that she used to attack Hallowfall and potentially might still have an army left, we simply don’t know exactly what’s happening with the Nerubians in Azj-Kahet as there’s still a lot of unrest in that area.
So… right now at least, all of the TWW-plotlines have reached a relatively sensible point waiting for the next patch but more likely the next expansion. In 11.2 we’ll deal with the Ethereals and start building towards Midnight which is going to be Void-heavy with the Locus-Walker as an important character for that expansion.
So… yeah.
And let’s also not forget that the whole “the Coreway is important it is your edict to maintain it” was fabricated in order to keep the Earthen compliant. Realistically… for us? It doesn’t matter anymore.
For the Earthen who still choose to be Oathsworn? Yeah the thing needs repairing and stabilizing. Especially now that there’s likely going to be more trade between the topside and underground of Khaz Algar. But that’s an Khaz Algar Earthen civilian issue mostly.
Final thing to note, just because I think it is fun to note: we are fighting Odyn either as the final boss of Midnight or as a boss in The Last Titan.

Isnt that sort of like the Orcish Horde of Draenor being a threat to Azeroth that was basically neutralized by the time we got garrison level three.
