So I realize a few people will probably come and meme on this question but I am genuinely curious, has anyone ever played WoW in first person for any meaningful amount of time?
Ewwww, WoW is the kind of game that i like to play way zoomed out, the current max zoom is too close for my tastes, i canât imagine playing up that close because this game kinda looks worse the closer you get to it lol
The dragonriding races can sometimes be neat in first person.
I played in first person during the hype for resident evil village.
Almost never, and in raids I play from nearly a top down view of the fight. Makes it easier for me to rush around the fight and avoid the âbadâ while doing so.
I only zoom into first-person view for some screenshots. I played (mostly combat) flight sims since the late 80s starting with MS Flight Simulator 3 and invert-Y became the only way I can really play anything in first-person, since that was always the default control for controlling the aircraft elevators. Itâs the only way I can play FPS too. However, I play WoW without pitch being inverted (same with most other RPGs of this styleâŚexcept, third-person shooters I also can only play with inverted aim ). And, so, because it would take a modicum of effort to go to the menu and change look inversion (or maybe write a macro, assuming itâs controlled via a cvar)âŚthat requires not being lazy regarding the game
. Some things could probably be fun in first-person view in WoW, but I imagine situational awareness and positioning would be more annoying.
Only in PvP. I like to see the fear in their eyes as I hunt them.
They are also much easier in first person.
I tried in a mythic. Not possible without addons to do successfully.
Sometimes. When Iâm rp walking or tbagging people.
I just ⌠nm⌠not today SatanâŚ

This game isnât meant to be played that way.
As others said, I use first person for dragon riding races. Waaaaay easier, reminds me of serious type car racing games and makes me want to yell âNow this is pod racing!â
Oh and looking for a quest NPC day one of a patch when everyone needs to be inside the model itself.
The games not really designed to be learnt in first person. Farm content sure, but I remember the worm in sepulcher being hell. Maybe with a dedicated group who stacks and strategizes with first person in mind raiding is possible, having your hunter literally be eyes on the raid would be cool, but again I donât really think the current game design would have that as possible.
When I think back on how the old farts I raided with in tbc/wotlk overstrategized fights it makes me wonder if any of them were playing in first person. Things like âstack hereâ and âmove hereâ were such commonplace.
I raided in first person for a month or so purely out of boredom. Not much to see when the boss your staring at is 200M tall
It takes a bit of getting used to, thatâs for sure and youâve gotta change your UI - but Iâve been playing in first person with my fov at 50.
As for arguments that âthe game looks worseâ
We are playing a game built on code from 2003. Earlier I beleive - and if you take it from that perspective you can really appreciate the detail they WERE able to cram in. I think you really get a sense of scale when you play first person that you donât otherwise.
Not for any amount of time beyond âfinding the npc in the mammoth/yak pileâ.
However there was a period of time in my Garrison when I fixed my camera and enabled click-to-move and had some lulz D4 style. Did that for some time in between ques.
I prefer being zoomed way tf out.
There should be a locked first person camera arena tournament for the lolz
I never even thought about playing First Person, I wanna try now, I probably wonât like it but I wanna see
