Just wondering why Blizz wastes resources on pet battles instead of things like class sets or, you know, making ANY attempt at balancing classes. PvP left untouched for months BFA S2 probably the worst pvp season in a decade.
I regularly pet battle. I have 1050 unique pets all of witch are rare and level 25. Your own disdain for pet battles does not mean other players do not enjoy it.
I must admit the pet battle community is smaller compared to other WoW activities such as raiding, PvP etc… But I would argue that the assumption that the Dev team’s decision to forgo tier sets (one of the examples you gave) is not due to the development demand of pet battle related activities.
I used to view pet battles the same as you, But once I gave it a try I found myself thoroughly enjoying the collection aspect of it. I also have 502 unique toys collected for the same reason.
That being said, your choice not take a liking to pet battles is fine. We all have various interests. But I would hesitate to blame pet battles for some of the current plights of the BFA expansion. Plights, I agree with too.
If you possessed more of an awareness of how software design and development works, you would know that different portions of the game are handled by different teams. The fact that work is done in the area of pet battles does not mean that less work is devoted to pvp or class balance.
This is what I see: certain aspects of the game are getting little to no attention from Devs, like PvP balancing or gearing systems for example. Other aspects of the game are obviously getting attention and manpower, for example, pet battles.
Blizzard is a company and resources are limited. If certain aspects of the game are not being developed, it stands to reason that resources have been allocated towards other aspects of the game instead.
I’m not mad at pet battles. I’m mad that PvP players just spent more than twenty weeks begging for development with regard to class balance and gearing systems and Blizzard has shown little to no inclination to devote meaningful resources towards pvp balance and gearing systems.
Pet Battles are pretty much my end game. I have 1052 pets and am working to get them all to level 25.
That said, I can’t bring myself to care that Blizzard regularly wastes resources on PVP like implementing War Mode, creating unique Armor Appearances for PVP, creating quests for PVP, adding new Battlegrounds and Arenas, or creating a new mount every patch for PVP only.
I love doing pet battles, have a ton of pets, and look forward to the new dungeon.
They are a relatively small thing, though. Each dungeon is just pet battles in an already existing place. They probably have like 1-2 guys doing the whole thing.
I like them in my downtime. But haven’t been doing them much this expac because there is so little XP to be gained. With 1000+ pets to level, and only maybe 200 or so at 25, its very off-putting. I haven’t gone back to old zones but the new zones just aren’t worth it. I wonder why they’d cut XP? Do they not want more players participating? It seems like just about everything in BFA was designed to reduce participation, except maybe mythic raiding, which seems to be their only focus, even though only a tiny percent of customers do that.
I think Blizzard is spending too much time on M+ since I don’t do it and has neglected pet battles because that fits my narrative.
There’s a-lot of this game each one of us never does. That’s fine. But to say one part of the game takes away from a completely separate part of the game is disingenuous at best.
Nah not anymore, In pandaria it was interesting but trying to get back into it in BFA I saw they want you to pay to increase the amount of pets you can have at one time and I know well enough a time gate when I see one. I was interested, but it is clear blizz just wants to make it drag out and be as boring as possible. Only blizz could screw up the pokemon model of “go collect the critters”
