There really has not been any big changes in the nvidia driver lately.
The most notable recent change has been the introduction of the Nvidia App, which replaced Geforce Experience. Both are separate from the driver itself, which still has it’s own Control Panel.
The Nvidia App had been in Beta for a while, where you could download it and use it instead of Geforce Experience if you wanted. The Nvidia App recently came out of Beta, and, recent versions of the nvidia driver now replace Geforce Experience with the Nvidia App.
I’m not sure if those are the changes you are referring to. Nvidia Still offers Geforce Experience as a separate download. It might be possible to go back to that if you wanted to. I think the new Nvidia app is better, personally.
It’s generally always best to use the newest available driver unless you have a very specific reason not to.
If they’re talking about the Nvidia app, I’ve been using that since launch and it’s been fine
