Oh you know how people like to exaggerate how bad it is, esp when they conveniently forget how much worse it used to be.
Sounds like you never Pvp'd before legion. Most seasons you could be fully BiS. These days its almost impossible.

And now you buy off rep vendors, whats your point here? No matter what currency used in wow, and there have been a lot...you still relied on drops that are and always were rng.
You're making it sound like rep vendors are a replacement to points, which is wrong because first of all they've existed at the same time. Second of all, gear off of rep vendors are earned by something I don't like doing (rep grinding), and points were earned through something I enjoyed doing (running dungeons/battlegrounds).

Oh i pvpd i did it in BC/wrath/cata/wod to get the gear grinded my butt off in bgs and rateds. I remember how long it took to actually gear. By far wod was the fastest

Justice, Honor, Valor and Conquest Points[/quote]
Justice and honor, sure. Those were the bottom tier stuff. The upper tier stuff meant getting tokens to drop for you (random), or going to do Arena(screw that).
My point is that this game has never been without RNG. To make it sound like it's some kind of recent burden is just silly.
As far as deterministic paths to gear is concerned: Tailors, Leatherworkers, and Blacksmiths can also craft themselves raid-quality BoP gear. Randomized secondary stats, so there's some RNG involved, but overall that's less important than having the bump in primary stats given by the ilvl increase.
Yes, there's a lot of RNG in the game. There's less of it in BFA than there was in Legion (with its god-awful random legendaries), and for that I'm grateful.

Grinding gold for boes.
Grinding rep for rep gear.
Grinding dungeons for BoP craftable gear.
Grinding conquest for conquest gear.
To a lesser degree, climbing to a high rank for your pvp cache, and climbing to high M+ for you M+ cache, which while random, WILL give you high quality gear.
You also have rng mitigation with fate tokens.
Boe being on the AH is Rng. The Boe dropping in the first place is RNG
Grinding Rep gear- the rep gear is already ( if not almost) outdated by the time you reach the rep
Craftable gear was outdated ages ago, and the expansion was just released.
The conquest gear is literally Rng.
Pvp cache- Rng
M+ cache- Rng
No? Boe's dropping are rng, but you can just go look and see what there is to buy.
Champs and 7th legion could easily be exalted for many by now, and their rewards are relevant.
355 crafted gear is the equivalent of raid gear, and you can craft better gear than that.
There is no rng in conquest.
I explained what I meant with Caches. It is rng, but you are guaranteed to get loot of a certain minimum quality.
Nobody likes rng anything since forever
They just want what they have come for and vamoosh :P
Nope.
Remember back in wrath, when blizzard recognized that the RNG merry go round was unpleasant to a vast majority of the playerbase, and introduced badge of justice, tradeable in certain quantities for epic quality, well itemized pieces of gear from the vendor? So even if the RNG gods screwed you, with enough dungeon and raid runs you could still buy something decent that was an upgrade.
Remember when raids expressed frustration with class only tier pieces going to waste thanks to the RNG gods, so blizzard introduced tokens that could be used by multiple classes and turned in for a tier piece useful for their class and spec to minimize waste?
I find it wholly bizarre that blizzard has taken these solutions, which were by and far a HUGE success and took a lot of the frustration out of RNG gearing, and has taken about 300 steps backwards.
Oh look, another whinging idiot that is new to WoW.
Welcome to WoW, where if you play the game you get random loot, same as ever.
Cry more.
Have been in WoW since 2005 noob, the RNG was never, ever this bad. Moreover, there were many ways to gear that were certain, outside of random chance.
It was objectively worse in classic. You could go months without seeing upgrades due to being bombarded by drops nobody in your raid needed for a long time.
I'm numb to the rng in WoW after having played Black Desert for several months. Gearing up in that game is beyond infuriating and WoW gearing feels carebear by comparison.

You're thinking like a player, not a business.
Shouldn't a player think like a player?
...And a business that runs on players significantly consider the impacts of their changes
as perceived by players, who think like players?

Fair point, before patch 2.0 it was worse
I see this point as well. However mythic let alone mythic wasn't even in the game during old school wow. I think if it was old school wow I'd agree with this.
They made a lot of improvements, sure. Heroic wasn't a thing until mid-WOTLK (in the form of hard modes), and now we have 4 difficulty modes.
RNG is largely okay. I feel there are too many RNG elements in the game and the game design is built around effectively nothing except RNG. I hate when progression is designed around spreadsheets. Balancing and Tuning class damage/healing/TMI, totally fine. Using statistics as a substitute for effort and skill? I hate that.

Most of those awarded gear that was easily replaced in raids
Exactly their intended purpose. It was there for both progression and Bad Luck Protection.
This much RNG also brings the game closer to pay to win. Why? Well if RNG has been unkind to you, and you have $$, just buy tokens, go to AH, get very high level gear. Bypass the RNG.
If we had assured ways of gearing, or mostly gearing, players are less likely to go buy tok.. oh.. wait a minute...
@roguish
RNG means the chance of not getting gear after defeating a boss
RNG pre Personal loot forced = gear would 100% drop but what dropped was rng
so what im saying is: its ok that the loot table for gear was very large for bosses and you never knew which couple of pieces would drop for the raid to fight over (rng right here) but it was still 100% that gear would drop
the RNG as it is now makes it to where gear might not even drop at all
you might just get gold! every time and that is teh rng change they need to roll back

Unless the stats on the premade gear sucked and it wasn't bad luck protection at all. Warfronts vomit out 340 gear and that's not enough help? They created new ways to get you to raiding level. They've never put in such an easy system in this game. You have to log in once a week and kill rares/bosses and you'll be ready to raid.

the original badge of justice gear was actually pretty good - a large selection and would have you well equipped to enter normal mode raids.
Warfronts? Sorry, as a member of the horde i cant say i know her.

Wrong. You cannot buy whole sets. That comparison doesn't work.
