Does Anyone Even Think About Flying Anymore?

Am I weird in that I purposely port to my garrison just so I can fly around haha? Am I alone with this?

Yes, I love flying. NEVER TAKE IT AWAY.

I don’t think about it. At least until Pathfinder pt2 is released. Then I will resub and it will matter again.

Yes it’s a burden not having flying. I want it back. Not having it isnt enough to make me quit, but I miss it.

Yes.

However, I fully support the current model of going about half the expansion on the ground, then earning flying.

I understand and agree with the devs’ reasons for wanting us to appreciate their content from the ground. On the other hand, the convenience of flying in terms of efficiency cannot be overstated. It simply is faster to fly straight to your target, and that feels fun, especially if it’s been earned through some kind of in-game unlock.

The last several expansions, I’ve followed the same plan: I do all my leveling, questing, and general character progression on the ground, but once flying unlocks, I start hitting the achievement list for things like pet battles and archaeology.

The latter, archaeology, is a great example of an activity best experienced with flying. Just fly to the target zone, jump around from point to point, fly on to the next. This is much longer and more tedious without flying.

Anything that requires me to hop around the zones for specific targets, I generally will try hold-off until I can fly.

Again, that doesn’t mean I’m against not flying the first half of an expansion, but would I miss it if it weren’t added at all? Most certainly the answer is yes.

I’m happy with the current model, and think it’s a fine compromise between the no-fly and flying camps.

Agreed. I have no illusions that my opinion is anything but mine.

Yet, there seems to be a prevailing difference between the opinions of either camp. That being, the majority of anti-flying proponents indicate they don’t derive any (or at least, as much) fun from flying, and believe that everyone should feel the same, or be labeled whiners…while the pro-flying side tends to have a do-as-you-like attitude; just quit trying to force your inclinations on the rest of us.

I see that you are also a Druid. I feel deprived and my rights are being violated by not being able to shapeshift into flight form! (all said in smart-alecky tone).

Seriously, though, I do miss not being able to fly with all my toons. What’s the use of having flying mounts that cannot fly? And what’s with Blizzard selling Flying Pigs when we at the higher end of the levels cannot use them except in the old areas? Doesn’t make sense to me!

Every day and second I am playing this game.

Surprising to see so many post in this thread. It seems Blizz miscalculated after all.

I think about it and can’t wait to fly to check out BfA zones from above but I am not in a rush for it. I have patience and I haven’t had issues getting around quickly in BfA. I like pathfinder and just glad flying is still in the game vs no flying at all.

I think about flying everytime I log in and head to Boreallofus to do world quests or to troll land and have to slog through “content”.

Yes, I still think about all the time. I would definitely play more if flight were available.

The problem with that is the fact by the time you unlock it, you’ve already done everything except “late expansion zones”. And considering that they have a trend of no-flight zones as late expansion zones, its pretty much becoming no fly the entire expansion for anything that is current.

He’s a well known forum troll. He posted this thread just to troll, but save a few anti-flyers, this thread has been pretty civil.

If anything, a lot of folks think about it entirely too much.

Flying is one of the things that separated WoW from other MMOs on the market. Along with the combat system.

No wonder people are complaining so much about BFA.

Added back in?

Where was it removed from?

I don’t see what you said as a problem.

Since when is “once” a “trend”?

I agree that their tendency to add no-flight zones in the late expansion is cheating on their part. Just adding new content then not giving us the ability to fly in it feels like Blizzard is breaking the contract where we earn our flying, only to have them say, “Yes, but it won’t apply in the newest zone. So there!”

Nope. Personally I forget to use flying when I’m not in the new zones sometimes.

I think it should stay this way. Flight only usable in old content.
