Whenever I play another class and I see a hunter in my group, I get jealous and I’m like “I could be playing my hunter right now” and playing on any other class feels like a chore. Is it just me? XD
I can’t say I struggle playing other classes, but hunter has always been the class I’ve enjoyed most. When I do play an alt, eventually I get sick of them and go back to my hunter.
Before they pruned lots of abilities from each class, some classes did cause me to struggle a bit when first picking them up like rogues back in the day. Now that all classes and specs are super dumbed down with less abilities and similar rotations, I haven’t had any issues.
If course there is still a slight learning curve even today, but usually after doing some soloing and dungeons, a little work on the target dummy, it becomes second nature.
I understand how you feel about some classes feeling like a chore though. After playing hunter for years and being the most fun and comfortable class to play for me, I get tired of playing my alts, some classes sooner than others. Pally could only hold my interest for so long before it became a chore to play. Then went back to my hunter.
I’d like to play an alt again, but now with the essences, corruption, other stuff to bring now, I’ve ended up sticking with my main.
I struggle with some classes like priest. but in general I dont have a problem transitioning between classes and specs.
BUT…theres likely a reason for that.
I have a pattern I use for my keybinds that I stick to with all classes…makes it easier to get them down
2345 - secondary offense
WERT - primary rotation
SDFG - defensives
6 - forward moving boosts
That helps me get started with a new spec/class…and also helps me so I can swap back and forth between them easier.
As far as how the spec works mechanically, you’ll get that with practice. Seriously give it at least a couple weeks before you give up.
Yes. I’ve been looking at switching classes but I just enjoy Hunter.
- Hunter easy to play.
- It don’t have a dumb builder resource like most classes.
- You can solo most stuff.
- Every retail race can be one “though i’m having a hard time picking a race since classic humans can’t be hunter and I want play same in both game”.
- Pets are cute.
- You get 2 different play styles. 2 ranges and 1 melee spec.
I think it’s be cause of how the classes are built right now, but I just find my Hunter the funnest to play right now.
I enjoy it most because it feels the most fluid of all the ranged classes besides maybe Fire Mage.
I really, really, really want to learn how to play an elemental shaman. Thematically, I just think they’re really cool.
And for some reason, I just suck at it.
whew. Fire mage is one of the specs I just cannot find the love for.
We had one in a run yesterday that was doing really well. Kinda envy the guy. Frost and Fire just drive me batty trying to hold, cast, move, hold, cast, move. I just play arcane and deal with the mana shorts instead.
I have serious respect for you players who master Frost and Fire both.
I wouldn’t call it a chore, but I like the feel of hunters, and I don’t enjoy most of the other classes enough to play them regularly.
When Legion came out, I tried a bunch of different classes. I leveled up a Rogue, Priest, Shaman, Mage, and Monk before I finally got discouraged enough to quit.
Unfortunately, I had put so much work into my Hunter I didn’t want to give it up. Virtually all of my Achievements were on my Hunter. All my toys (Arcanite Fishing pole, Fishing Trinket, TCG Loot, Seasonal Event Items, etc) were on my Hunter, so even if though some of the classes were more fun than my end-WoD/Legion Hunter was, they weren’t enough to keep me in the game.
So I quit. I didn’t come back until I rolled a Druid and Lock in Classic (December). I did some raiding there, but then I started missing my items in retail (Swift Spectral Tiger, Magic Rooster, etc), so I moved back to my hunter a couple weeks ago.
The hunter has improved since Legion - which is saying a lot considering it still has a lot of problems. Despite that, I’ve been enjoying it quite a bit - even though it’s been at a very casual level. I’m still debating whether I want to start raiding and doing PVP again. At the moment, I’ve spent most of my time working on Pathfinder (which is getting pretty close).
So yes. I like my Hunter. Most other characters feel sluggish to me. Without my Hunter, I would likely get bored and not play at all again.
i play archers… its hard to play anything else
I have this hunter (BE) on horde and two on Alliance (Human/NE). i also struggle to play other classes and most just get used for their professions only…
the first three toons i ever made were hunters: first a NE hunter, then a dwarf hunter, then this guy. I like the utility of running around with a pet as well as ranged attacks. I dont thing i ever played BM so i do not go after rare pets…mostly albino, diseased/dead, or mechanicals.
If you enjoy the Hunter, then just play it
There are some rare regular pets too. I usually have Skarr out when I’m playing MM.
Aye, i believe there are. However, this guy has always been into Albino and (now) mechanical pets. He has is a devotee of Sylvannas and the people of the Undercity and all forsaken. Has been that way since i started playing him. You cant see it, but he has white hair, too.
when i first started there were so many pets to get and now even more, but back then i only had a limited amount of space so i decided to go all albino. My first kept pet was the white bear near Ironforge, then i followed that up with the white tiger, then an armored white boar from that instance…that one took the longest. I still dont really use my mechanical pets often and, because of such, they dont all have names yet. I still have a few that i tamed that dont have names either. I like the undead/diseased look the most so the few normal pets i have that arent albinos tend to be diseased, but I have been traveling so long with that bear i cant get myself to give her up. She is named after the warrior from the movie Heavy Metal. It isnt easy to find a picture of her that i can link here without causing some issues, but she is the white haired vixen that didnt really speak much…just did her job.
My alliance hunters tend to be more progressive and have pets of various shades, but I am just not that into collecting some of the rather cool looking pets i see others have.
edit: still getting used to the quote tags.
Maybe back in the day. Nowadays I struggle to even play the game for 2 hours a week its so unbalanced and unfun.
I can relate to this, however being a hunter player allows me to help support the hunters I play with even more since I know the class fairly well. I look at this time off my hunter as an opportunity to learn more about the limitations of other classes so that this information transfers over to enhance my hunter strats. Play what you struggle against and you will eventually find the weak spots of every class, except Dhs.
Yeah, I do.
Sadly that means I struggle to play period… since I have been pretty dissatisfied with hunters since the Legion prepatch.
If i play other dps specs yes.
Otherwise I love tanking on my warrior and don’t feel that any of that time is wasted at least until they do another round of class redesign and I find I hate how it plays.
@zyrondell love ur mog btw what gives you the quiver on ur back
sorry for changing thread
I been a bm hunter since vanilla I be one through good or bad. I do have alts I play like resto druid rogue dh and pally. but I always fall back on hunters
the windrunner bow from Legion…the legendary one. I used to use the bow from the old level 60 Hunter quest that has the leaves and flowers on it: go to wow head and search “rhokdelar-longbow-of-the-ancient-keepers”
however the wind runner bow is what im using now completing my “For the undercity” look.
