Does anyone else still really hate SCALING?

Blizzard spent too much time playing Skyrim without understanding that people like Skyrim despite its annoying level scaling, not because of it.

so much this. See when skyrim scaling in cell load had screwed you its best to do one thing.

Leave, do other things and come back over leveled and over geared.

Well you can also save scum and hope for the best on a new fresh start cell load.

It sucked massively when scaling said here is some legendary NPC's. And more...and wth more.

Fallout 4 was nice enough to least put the skull next to the name. Skyrim you found your new friends on steroids the hard way. You engaged them and said f....., scaling screwed me.

I like scaling. I like being able to stay in one zone and not lose out on xp because I am killing grey mobs. I like I can hop into a dungeon and not instantly outlevel the zone I was questing in and the zone next to it forcing me to travel two zones over to get back into questing.

I hate the xp changes that came with the scaling changes.

Those are two different things to me.

There are pretty substantial nerfs to the amount of exp needed per level on the PTR right now. Around 60 it hits a 40% reduction and stays above 20% through 110. 110-120 are pretty much unchanged. Would guess 1-120 will take 25% less time than before (or more) in 8.1.
DO NOT CALL IT NERFS.

It's a full reversal of TERRIBLE decisions made at the top levels of the dev team.

"Oh !@#$, only true basement dwellers are leveling alts now". "The rest sniffed out our pay to play model". "Hmm".
Its just a gimmick to make you spend more time doing the same thing that would take a few seconds once geared. It does nothing to add fun but ruin all sense of power gaining in the world. Hey look i leveled up and i can fin...wait everythings the same level...wtf? Where is my power gain? What I got new gear but...it does nothing what the !@#$.

Scaling is useless in every sense of the way. It was good for dungeons but then we found out that it was a lie that it was level only but really ilvl. Scaling does nothing for people but make you take longer to do things.

I'm okay with the straight mob scaling. I'm really disgusted with any form of ilvl scaling. Once you get to 120, you should be splattering those mobs.

I wish I had more than one like to give. Level scaling fine, ilvl scaling at 120 not so much.
level scaling itself is ok.

the problem is ilvl scaling. that crap needs to be removed.
I dislike PvE scaling and much prefer the original design where mobs are specific levels for each zone.

I hate scaling...
I know at first there were a lot of people that were against it.
Now you dont hear that much about it. I cant stand it, and it
has really soured me on the game.

Anyone else still struggling to accept it?

** I want to add a bit more to this**

With the scaling I just feel like I am getting no where. The way it was the more you lvl'd.. the more you lvl'd your gear.. the stronger and more invincible you felt.. the faster you could clear content...it felt like you were accomplishing something. Now everything feels grindy to me because it is lacking that kick butt factor that USED to come with lvl'ing and gearing up.

I guess its just not fun anymore. :(

i hate it with a passion and I think that is partly to blame for a lot of people's unhappiness with the game overall even though they tend to blame it just on the game being unrewarding. That feeling of being stronger was very rewarding and removing that leaves too much of a void to fill with conventional rewards.

Iilvl scaling in places you've been to already is trash. I think like Skyrim, but i dont remember how that fully worked. Level scaling is nice, but really should not be implemented half way through. I mean the game was already started, it's too much of a change that hurts the many years of the static rpg feel we have had.

Everything just feels like a big grind and time sink... maybe thats what they want.. but its sucking all the fun out of the game for me!!

I personally prefer a bit of challenge in my gameplay.
I can't speak for level scaling but if you mean item level scaling you don't hear much about it because after 2 months people have already eclipsed it. I have a video comparing me at several different item levels and the power increase in undeniable when looking at kill times.

A lot of the core problems people bring up are pshyological tricks on your own mind, and this is certainly one of them. Look at fact or compile your own data to see that even though it "feels" a certain way, the reality contrasts it.

As for leveling scaling, if that is what you meant, I think it's the best change they ever made to the early game and would only prefer if the entire game scaled.

thing is there are ways to get that, no scaling so it doesn't affect the whole.

Under gear your char. Don't run the top gear, run the lower stuff.

Some in skyrim called this ironman runs. Simple concept....run iron level gear. No daedric and such. Iron day 1, iron day 100. real hardcores limited/no tempering and/or enchants on the gear. these extremes also called the no magic runs. So anti magic you would not desecrate your gear with even the taint of magic.

See this is the argument I always had issues with. Game is so dull...running THE fotm builds with best gear.

Saw this in eve. No crap your are bored with pve, your pve fit is spec'd for uber smash of doom. Drop the faction/deadspace (eve's greens and blues) and give that a go. Or lose the wtf pve smashing battleship of doom. I made eve boring as hell. Hard not too with a pimp marauder. A battleship even "crap" fit that smashed pve. Kind of why I spent 1 billion + on ship and mods....to smash pve.

Seeing this in wow. Game got easy. New best gear drop, right click equip....thats supposed tp happen.

See its like King Arthur. He used excalibur to whoop some !@#. Magic blade to cut down all who opposed him. Its should kill a deer in 1-2 swings not 4-6 lol.
i kill mobs with little problem... they don't gain power equal to the rate you gain power.

I can't believe i agree with metro on this. The is a ton of hyperbole on scaling. like "i gained 30 ilvl and now i can't kill mobs wtf!!11!"
I absolutely hate scaling. It makes you apathetic to whatever drops in the leveling experience. It makes the numbers you're working with meaningless because it all balances out beyond your control. It feels like you're never advancing. I absolutely would prefer the world before the scaling change. Finding mobs that are lower level than you, finding mobs that you can crush in an instant, that is part of what makes you feel like you're advancing. It's a common D&D DM technique to re-introduce old mobs that were hard at one point so the players can realize how far they've came when they crush them later on.

I do.
Like many others have said, you lose the sense of your character getting powerful.

But theres so many other issues right now than scaling to me though.
Class balance and design. Azerite gear being boring as hell, compared to artifact weapons and Legendaries in Legion etc.
They really should get rid of every passive azerite trait and make every trait unique which makes your class interesting and makes you play your class differently. (I know they new outer ring seems to introduce something like that, but the passives still has to go. Its boring)

But since they've moved some resources to mobile games, I'm guessing they don't have enough people to overhaul much.
Because I'd like to see class unique talent trees just like the artifact weapons but on the azerite necklace.

Sorry for going off topic.
I love it. Only gankers hate it.

I suppose I could drink heavily before playing. Doesn't seem as much fun though. And what's wrong with everyone having just a dash of challenge at the game's very top level?

I'm not going to carry around a bunch of crap gear just for this purpose. I'd rather the game provide the challenge instead of having to undergear, get drunk, gouge out an eye, cut off a thumb, and stuff an angry badger down my pants to get a challenge.

Or I could just play the game the way the devs intended when they created it.

But you want it duller by removing any semblance of challenge instituted by the devs? As Lore would say...Sounds good, makes sense.

And this situation would have been improved if the PvE threats were even less threatening?

Huh? I think someone hijacked your post. Not sure what you're driving at here that is related to the topic at hand.

Depends on how tough the deer is. Have you ever tried to take down a deer with a sword? I bet it takes you more than one or two swings. But seriously, it makes perfect sense that the enemies in new zones and new level brackets would be appropriately tough for the players in those areas. If you want to feel OP and slaughter innocent woodland creatures simply go back to a lower level zone and go ham. You could be a 1-man extinction level event if that's what tickles your fancy.
Ok i hate it too, right now in wow, i dont level, i dont gear grind, i do money missions in legion and ive been forced to spend my rl $$$ on gw2 because its just not fun here. I know im addicted but i sure as hell wont be giving them money for this.
