I really miss just sitting down and doing a nice, slower paced normal or heroic dungeon. Mythic+ is just not an enjoyable way to do dungeons for me at all. I used to just do normal and heroic dungeons at max level because I just enjoyed doing them a lot, even if I didn’t need any gear in them at all. Now when I try to do them, it’s literally just one person soloing the entire dungeon and it’s just like, why even bother doing it?
There is nothing left in BfA to scratch that relaxing, slower paced dungeon itch for me except maybe doing dungeons while leveling, and even then, not really.
Since no one I know plays anymore (been many many years. Not a BFA or even a WoD issue) I dont do dungeons unless I have to. With the exception of a random quest here or there, dungeons arent even important.
Flowermilk you will likely not see the game improve in regard to this issue until blizzard realizes that it is unhealthy to separate your playerbase and divide them up between 4 tiers of difficulty. There should be one or maybe two difficulties at MOST. That goes for raids and dungeons.
The change from Need vs Greed and not getting to see what loot drops in a popup window (vs a line flashing by in chat) coupled with doing multiples and not getting a loot drop makes them feel unrewarding and not worth bothering with. Doubly so when you can out gear them via WQ.
Part of that is psychological: seeing a ton of green and blue gear in that NvG window throughout the dungeon makes it feel more rewarding even when you don’t win the roll. Especially when you could click on the link to see the loot prior to rolling.
I understand rewards are important. But the situation with normal/heroic dungeons is so grim right now, that they’re not even doable the proper way anymore. Like, I can’t just queue up and do a normal or heroic dungeon and actually feel like I’m doing my job as a healer or whatever, because when you get into one it’s usually just one overgeared person running their friend through it while the other 3 people just try to keep up. That’s not doing a dungeon, that’s getting carried through a dungeon.
I miss even just actually being able to do normal and heroic dungeons. Because they’re like this now, you just get funneled into M+ and I don’t enjoy M+ at all.
I miss that a lot. Burning Crusade heroic dungeons - which were like high mythic+ without the timers - were the only form of PVE I ever really enjoyed.
Blame esports. Got to make it an approachable format for the uninformed masses taken in bite sized chunks since there aren’t TV time outs and injury timeouts and half times and such. Therefore zerg, zerg, zerg as ain’t no 100,000 Twitchy viewers gonna sit still through a 3 hour BRD or ST crawl.
I grew up in BC and doing heroics was one of my favorite pastimes. M+ is just a lot more stressful. I feel like bfa is a lot more unforgiving than legion was in terms of m+.
The sad thing is, the timer prevents us from getting to dungeons that are actually difficult. Out of scores of runs, I think I’ve actually been blocked on the dungeon content once or maybe twice. Every other time we didn’t finish, it was because one or two impatient players left the group.
I feel the same way, but now I never step foot in one because it just not fun to race thru them and unless a quests goes into them I avoid them like the plague. Mythic+ completely ruined dungeons in my opinion. I tried a few in legion and will now never do one again, for any reason.
Yeah I hear what you’re saying, and I’m pretty split on the issue.
M+ gives a certain rush when you have a good team and it can feel great when executed. There’s negatives too though, like no social and no sense of adventure.
I would take BC style heroics and raiding for the latter two and the fights were challenging (progression was real), but I do see the upshot for m+.
