a guy who lets an alien imprison his wife because she wants to dabble in shadow magic how disgusting can you be? Is this supposed to be a likeable character??
He is a paladin, put him in front of the scourge for a few years and he will be converted like the rest of them.
I really don’t know enough about him to have an opinion
Just that he seems out of place amongst the Lightforged
I don’t even know who that is.
Turalyon represents blind faith without question, those who would never shed a doubt and have been brainwashed by belief.
Alleria represents one who questions and breaks the rules of said beliefs, then gets punished by said manipulators who want nothing but mass-control over all existence, and now she used the belief’s enemy’s power for good.
And somehow they are still a couple.
TD:LR odd couple. Turalyon: Zealot. Alleria: Atheist.
I didn’t like how Turalyon tried to force her to fight for the light like there was no alternative path, as Lord Illidan showed there is. I’m glad she defied the light and is walking her own path.
WoW Turalyon is nothing like Warcraft Turalyon who was a real beast of a Paladin with good character and development as well as being unbelievably powerful.
WoW Turalyon, with a light infused super sword couldn’t even scratch Illidan a literal demon infused Elf… A Demon Infused Elf who caught a blade of pure Holy Light with his bare hand! No Demon Hunter Magic, not both hands, he caught the blade of a sword of PURE HOLY LIGHT with a single hand and without so much as a scratch with only a minor scratch from who was once the most powerful of all the Paladins.
WoW Turalyon is a shadow of his early Warcraft self, a shadow of the Paladin who’s power and control of the Holy Light was so overwhelming it brought an entire ARMY of Orcs to its knees in fear.
I truly loath how Turalyon was written in WoW and for me he is a ruined character. He was a character I was very hyped to see and what we got was not the Turalyon I knew.
EDIT: Xillean pointed out that he did get a minor cut on his hand, somehow I had never seen the little bit of green blood. Good eye, I actually really appreciate this being pointed out.
Actually if you look closely in the vid, green blood runs down his hand so it did hurt him to catch it.
Other then that yeah I call bs he was able to nuke the Prime Naru and then catch Turalyons blade like it was nothing.
at 2:50 you can see two lines of green blood going down from where he caught it.
demon skin is tough, you simply do not cut through it.
Oh, you are right! Its so minor I never noticed that. I rescind my comment, he did get a minor cut at 2:57 in the cutscene. Good eye, I never noticed that minor bit of green, glowing, blood. I really do appreciate you pointing that out.
Demons are weak to the Holy Light though, that’s always been canonical and why Paladin Abilities have always been stronger against Demons and Undead. Exorcism, Holy Wrath, even Wake of Ashes did more against Demons and Undead.
I imagine after being a raid boss in TBC, holy weapons don’t do much since he needed the buffs to not be instant killed.
And that actually doesn’t make any sense…the light and void are opposite, but demons are aliens from other planets. So is the light racist against other races non-Azeroth that it hurts them so? Were aliens to them.
I think that was the point. To not have him come back the big hero he was before. Still an ally, but clearly changed from last time we saw him.
I agree, I personally might be able to accept he was able to blast the reformed Prime Naru since she was pretty messed up.
But catching the blade of pure Light? I mean come on it was Turalyon swinging. I would have preferred Velen intervening somehow then Illidan just catching the blade.
That frustrates me so much XD
At least Alleria Windrunner is still a pretty cool character. Honestly, if anything, while I am disappointed with how Turalyon came back I have to admit its been great having Alleria Back and I really like her character and how it has evolved in WoW a lot more than Turalyons.
Agreed so much here. I know they did it for the “Rule of Cool” and all and honestly Legion was a lot more Illidan’s story and redemption than the other characters but that was honestly a step too far in my opinion to make Illidan look even cooler.
It’s more the fel magic that demons are suffused in (/ sustained by / created with) that the holy magic reacts to. The cosmic powers in Warcraft are not a simple Pokemon strength/weakness chart; there’s different levels and situations where one is weak to another.
“Hate” is too strong a word … but I lost a lot of respect for the dude. Disappointment. That’s the word. I don’t hate Turalyon, but I’m very, very disappointed.
Its almost like being lost in time and killing demons for an eternity does that to a man…
I ,too, was upset that they didn’t reestablish Turalyon as a Superman level character that could solo all of his factions enemies. I can’t imagine why they would have made this choice.
Really though, the characters were painted with pretty broad strokes back then so i get why they’ve changed. I empathize with feeling let down because a character isn’t what you think they should be, but I don’t think this change is unwarranted or unbelievable.
he’s another light obsessed paladin fallen under sway by mind controlling properties of the naaru. When Illidan killed his master he became reasonable again.
Turalyon has blind devotion to the light. And has ideals & ways, etched into his mind & will. Those ideals were challenged recently though in one of the books, where he searched for nobility & light in an Undead - Something he said would be impossible, but nonetheless commenced the ritual to see, and ultimately he found that what the undead (Alonsus Faol) had stated was true. It defied what Turalyon believed and he adapted to the new possibilities.
I wouldn’t say he’s a terrible guy, he’s just incredibly naive – Xe’ra probably told him that the shadows & void would corrupt his wife and she’d no longer be the same person (Which can happen to a few, but not all) and out of fear for her safety may have decided to abide the Naaru’s decision. When she was freed and rescued Turalyon - He was certain what she stated could not possibly be true and even stated he would defend her in accordance to what she’s done & what she fights for.
Keep in mind, he’s been under tutorship of the light & Naaru who’s proved more zealous than the others of her kind (Of which, others of her kind have confirmed this) for over 100 years, within a dreadful region of the Twisting Nether.
Turalyon was once what they turned Tyrion into in WoW. I think of Turalyon came back as the predecessor of Tyrion and as strong and dedicated as Tyrion was, we wouldn’t be having this conversation right now.
