Does anyone actually like the portal room honestly?

I am just really curious. Since I am not the most positive person, I wanted to see if there is anyone with that likes the portal room that can maybe change my mind. I think it’s absolutely stupid but I want to try to be more open minded.

I am an old school player but with the way the game is now days, I am not asking for old school ideas anymore. We were promised classic so I am not here to be angry at BFA because Ill be happy once I see that classic announcement. Let us old school players enjoy classic and let the new school players enjoy new ideas. They are two different styles of games completely. Don’t mix up old and new ideas blizzard, yall seem like you’re getting confused

I like the idea of the portal room. We’ve had “portal rooms” since BC, really. I just don’t like that Stormwind is the center of the universe once again and that they took away infrastructure to make it.

I think the Horde version is super lackluster in it’s scope. Alliance is right on the money. Horde advantage is that it’s right there even before you enter Orgrimmar.

Like the Plane of Knowledge back in EverQuest, I do enjoy a central hub where you can access different areas of the game. If I were a new player just leveling through and wanting to go visit different areas, I would have been confounded and utterly confused as to where the portal was and how to get to it.

Even on my Horde character, which I rarely if ever play Horde, it took me some time to orient myself from Silvermoon to Undercity, then Undercity to Orgrimmar. From there it was just a matter of finding the portal room and everything I needed was there.

I dont mind it in the least bit, being perfectly honest.

I think the new portal rooms look absolutely beautiful, as do the portals themselves.

The problem is… well… haha. We’re getting that Caverns of Time portal, but we’re missing Vale of Eternal Blossoms, Karazhan, Dalaran Crater, etcetera. There’s still a lot more missing that I’d like for them to put back in.

Well…it’s pretty.

I love the new portal rooms, they just would be better if they were fully there like on ptr instead of having portals removed like the genius’s blizz are.

Every racial capital should have the same damn things in them.

I have seen both and to me Alliance looks way better then Horde which just looks bland. But suffice to say I am one who likes the look of the new room it isn’t as cluttered or have that feeling of being lost also it gives them room for adding which is what they are doing in 8.2. :wolf::zap:

I think it’s pretty but… honestly, how they seem to be forcing everyone into Stormwind or Org feels off. It’s also annoying since I prefer Ironforge or Thunderbluff.

My more cynical side says they did it to make it feel like there are more people in game.

I do like the room, and from an in universe perspective it makes perfect sense to bottlneck the portals in a space that can be more easily defended.

Some more portals would be nice

I don’t think anyone complains about the existence of the portal room.

It’s their removal of portals plus making destinations to villages outside of hubs rather than the cities/hubs themselves. That, coupled with their complete lack of interest in our feedback about that fact. They’re giving us Caverns of Time, great.

But ultimately it was a PR debacle. One of many as of late.

Well, the reason Ironforge was the capital back in the day was because it was close to all of the max-level content. Every racial capital does have the same thing (except portals now, I guess), and before portalgate, nobody went to the other racial capitals.

I say make each city unique, with different purposes to go there. With portals for some convenience, of course.

Ironforge was the capital because it had the only auction house for alliance.

How could I forget lmao

TBF it’s not like people stopped going to IF the second SW got an AH. It was a slow bleed.

You’re not wrong.

On topic, I like the portal rooms. Organizing things is an improvement. Though, I don’t think they left themselves too much room to expand, at least for the Horde.

I don’t like them removing portals and forcing us to take the long way for everything. It doesn’t even support their stated goal that I quoted. Them moving the Pandaria one from the Shrine to the Jade Forest killed the population there. Instead of seeing at least a few other people there I’m all by my lonesome.

Fair point

I like them. I think they should have one in every capital city. It would promote travel instead you have to hop from portal to portal or you have to have several hearth stones

I like it just fine. No complaints at all.
