Does anyone actually bid for things on the AH?

I don’t remember the last time I didn’t buy something out.

Sometimes I bid things farewell…before I pick them up in my mailbox

It is buyout of I look for the next cheapest item with one. If I am using the AH I don’t want to wait a day or more to pick something up.

If I see Auctions with crazy low bid prices I will, but I don’t sit and watch like AH sharks. So I usually get outbid.

If it is something I don’t need at the moment and there is a good chance I would get outbid.

Now that I think about it, I can’t remember the last time I didn’t just buy it now.

Usually I buyout, but sometimes I do bid. Generally, I win those without ever bidding again, but I’ve had auctions cancelled by the poster because their low bid was Not what they wanted to sell the item for. :smiling_imp:ah well, it was worth a try.

I’ll occassionally bid. However, I’ve never won an auction this way. Too many people are scanning for deals for this to be a valid purchase technique for most of us.

I do sometimes mostly to jack up the prices on mats when people post for pennies just to guarantee a sale. I would buy them but there is always someone who must have an addon timer that tells them when they are about to expire so jack up the price is the best I can do.

Not anymore. I think the last time I bid was on a bronze throwing dart wat back when.

At least that’s the last thing I remember bidding on.

I bid for pets I really want if they’re something like 10k bid 15k buyout. I’ve almost always won but I’ve also only tried it a few times.

I like standing on the side of the AH and yelling that it’s our end of the year sales event like a car commercial. You have to hurry down right now.

If you are using Auctioneer (might be Auctionator, don’t quote me) and use the Search -> Snatch function and the bid price is below the minimum you set but the buy is above your set price it will queue up the transaction as a bid. I tend to avoid the items that are listed for 1c @ 48 hours.

One of the worst parts of the whole expansion is how dead mog farming has become. I used to enjoy going to old dungeons and farming mogs to sell for fun. Since the filthy casuals no longer have extra gold in pocket, mog farming really dipped in profit.

It depends on if it’s a consumable or an item like mog, pet, or mount. Consumables and mats usually just buy, but an item I don’t really need I will bid if it’s a lot lower than the buyout price.

I know you are joking here, but people in trade chat regularly do advertise how low their items are selling for on the AH.

Pretty much the only time I bid is if I want something but not too badly, or if the buyout exceeds what I want to pay (up to and including not being able to afford the buyout at all).

Which is to say, just about never.

People bid on the auctions that I post almost every time. I pick a starting price that is reasonable if it sells at that amount and my buyout price is about %1 above the lowest buyout price currently.

I am probably losing gold this way but I prefer not to need to relist items.

i bid all the time on things, only bids actually

No, it’s a waste of time.

There was a couple guys on my server advertising on trade chat how they came across a titanforged mythic items they placed on the AH for bids with no buyouts.

At the end of the whole bussiness, they ended up with 40 and 63k each for an item that would have easily sold for 120k.

I do-- But then I don’t buy regularly from AH. If it’s something like a super rare pattern or something of that nature. For the most part, I do for myself.
