Does alchemy make the most sense for a Brewmaster Monk lorewise?

So I have alchemy and herbalism for my Brewmaster Monk. I figure it makes the most sense because it seems like brewing and alchemy are quite similar both in game play and in lore. What mostly comes to mind is Chen Stormstout who goes across distant lands to find new herbs to make new crazy and tasty brews. Some of these brews have alternate effects of just tasting good like fortifying brew turns your skin to stone. That doesn’t sound like a regular brew but more like a potion of some sort. What is everyons thoughts on this does this make the most sense lore-wise for brewmaster monks and monks in general.

It can certainly work.

As you noted Brews and Potions are basically the same thing in lore.

Alchemy and scribe really feel like the most matching main profs (with Herbalism, have to tend the garden!) for a monk yeah.

Alchemy makes sense, but maxed out Cooking matters more.

Chen Stormstout in the Vol’jin novel puts heavy emphasis on alchemy being the predecessor of Brewcraft, but a proper brew depends on the experiences and the relatives to how much the BM knows of worldly experiences as a Huojin, or how refined ones traditions are as a Tushei.

It’s not inaccurate to say it starts out as alchemy and becomes cooking.
