Does a Dark Iron paladin make as much sense as a regular Dwarf?

Dark Irons are typically portrayed in an evil manner. Would it make sense for a dark iron to be a paladin just like the regular dwarves?

Remember, being a paladin, or wielding the light in general, does not mean “not evil.”

People can wield the light through force of faith and will without necessarily being ‘good.’ Scarlet Crusade, for example, wields the light against plenty of innocents through their fanatic belief. The Dark Iron dwarves could be the same.

That being said, there’s no reason a Dark Iron dwarf couldn’t have a similar personality and conviction as another dwarf, particularly if said Dark Iron dwarf was younger- thus being more impressionable and having spent a larger portion of their life as a part of the alliance and among other kinds of dwarves.

Absolutely. The Light has been wielded by several closetfuls of jerks and downright evil dudes and dudettes.

Amd what could be more fanatical than a dark iron actually walking the good path?

Now that they no longer worship Ragnaros, I’m sure many have taken up the Light.

Dark Irons did/do wield the Light or at least had analogues to Paladins even before they broke free of Ragnaros, in the form of Judges and Justices, as well as some of their military commanders. These Lightwielders seemed to draw their power from fanatical faith in law and order (or such as it was in an evil fire god worshipping regime) as opposed to any true faith in the Light, but they used a lot of Paladin abilities.

Some of the Dark Iron ghosts you fight in Blackrock Depths and Blackwing Descent also use Paladin abilities, or at least the Light.

Definitely wouldn’t make much sense that the Dark Iron were as much into Light as the Bronzebeard, since they have much less common history with Humans and Draenei than the Bronzebeard do, so I don’t see the worship of the Light being significant in their society. Paladin individuals is perfectly conceivable though

They don’t worship the Light, but that’s not necessary. They have the requisite fanaticism in their obedience to Ragnaros…they access the Light through it’s aspect as the Purifying Flame.
