Just curious the consensus
You literally can’t use any abilities unless you have a dagger in both hands as sin.
Sub is a significant dps loss to use a non dagger.
As assassin you can’t use your main combo builder - mutilate - without two daggers. As for sub, it’s a matter of taste really. I don’t have sims or anything but there are two major differences between the two - damage vs energy / bonus cp generation and style. It stands to reason that using a non dagger offhand as sub means your white damage will be slightly higher than with a dagger - but with a dagger you have a faster attack speed which means two things. Higher attack speed means more hits per second/minute. More hits = more chances for poison procs to stack wound in pvp or deal instant poison in pve AND it means more chances to generate a combo point and some extra energy via that passive sub has (forgetting its name). But in my opinion the difference is negligible at best. If you like how a sword/axe offhand looks use it, unless you’re competing at the highest levels of play I doubt choosing one over the other really means anyhing.
Now, if you plan to switch between sub and assassin just running 2 daggers would make your like a lot easier than maintaining 2 daggers AND an additional offhand, that’s for sure.
For sub the weapon in oh has to be a significantly higher ilvl to be a non dagger.
In BFA it had to be 30 ilvls higher.
It does not have to be. If he’s not trying to play at the highest levels of play it doesn’t really matter so long as he’s having fun. Just like any class there are a myriad of ways to play it and even if it isn’t meta, unless you’re doing something that requires min maxing and precision building like high rated arena or high mythics it doesn’t really matter at the end of the day since it doesn’t lock him out of his abilities (unlike sin)
False.
No matter what level you play at it’s a dps loss period. Not only is it a dps loss but it’s a significant dps loss.
Stick to the mage forums. Stop giving bad advice here.
I am not saying it is not a dps loss. I am saying the dps loss does not matter if he is having fun - the only time someone can say it truly matters to min max in such a fashion is in high end content such as high rated arena or high mythics. He is not asking what’s the best, he’s simply asking who plays with a non dagger like he does (based on his armory).
Unless you’re saying that this rogue, who you’re very unlikely to ever actually play with on an individual level, has to adhere to what is the absolute best no matter what even if it costs him some enjoyment he finds in his class/class fantasy for some reason?
Edit: English man
You’re reading comprehension is terrible.
He can play whatever he likes. If he wants to use a sword offhand that’s fine.
However you saying it’s a “negligible” difference is not only wrong but spreading false information.
Also just because someone isn’t playing high end arena or mythic raiding or mythic plus doesn’t mean they don’t play casual or want to not hurt themselves by doing significantly less dps.
Ad hominem, my friend. I trust someone with a post history such as yours understands me well enough.
I will continue to say it is negligible as at the end of the day it really is. A variety of things work in this game and just because it means you drop less than a couple hundred dps at most means absolutely nothing if you aren’t pushing.
If a player finds maxing dps fun then they max dps. If a player finds a certain aesthetic fun, then they pursue it. They aren’t hurting themselves in any meaningful fashion by slightly dulling their damage in exchange for what they perceive as more fun.
Finally, if spreading good vibes and encouraging people play what’s the most fun with non inflammatory posts (in a community that sorely needs it*) upsets you so, I apologize for whatever causes you to think in such a limiting fashion.
It’s not an ad hominem attack.
And you will continue to spread false information. You clearly can’t understand that there is a difference between saying people can play what they want and the difference is negligible.
The different is negligible because it’s a big dps loss to use a non dagger if equal ilvl.
You giving false information is the issue.
