Do you update your hearthstone with other inns?

Warcraft does support a bunch of inns. Theoretically, you could set your hearthstone to various inns as you are leveling to make it easier to do questing in that area.

In practice, I set my hearthstone at the beginning of an expansion pack, and leave it set to the main inn for two years.

When leveling an alt, I have it set to Stormwind until I max out.

In the olden days of vanilla, I don’t remember if I would set it other than to Ironforge.

I am curious if anyone takes advantage of the inns other than the major cities

I never did, and I definitely won’t now with dynamic flight; just set to the new capital city and forget until next expansion.

No cause you have a garrison hearthstone and a legion hearthstone

Set your main hearthstone to valdrakken and then use legion dalaran hearthstone to go back to orgrimmar/stormwind

Use garrison hearthstone for Draenor

And for bonus use your time walking TBC toy to teleport to outland shadowmoon valley

Use your goblin engineering dimensional ripper to teleport to netherstorm, now you have two options to travel in outland

For even more bonus use your engineering wormhole toys to get to northrend, pandaria, BfA zones and Shadowlands

Exception to that is my mage. That one’s HS is set to Loam, though an argument could be made for Iskaraa because the mage has little reason to visit the mole peoples.

I used to while I was leveling because I thought being in the main city was a waste of time. But as the game has changed, it’s become the opposite for me, and like you I only change my hearth twice per character. Once from the starting area to a major city, and then again to the current expansion’s primary city. After that? I don’t change it again until the next expansion’s major city.

Once I know what the main hub will be, there my HS is set, until the next expansion.

I move them around when levelling, using the Dalaran hearthstone to get to capitals.

All the time, why wouldn’t you?

It’s one of those legacies of when travel was impactful… And that was why the world felt big and cool. I’m an outlier in this discussion, because I frequently do self limiting things that make the game world still feel cool to me, and so I actually do. I also ground mount ALOT of places, etc.

But it is “inconvenient” to set your HS to anywhere out of the way, in all the ways it ought to be.

I usually set my hearthstone to whatever the current quest hub is, especially if it’s not easy to get to (like Zaralek Caverns). I use Dalaran hearthstone or cloak of coordination if I need to get back to the main expansion city. On some alts I’ve set their hearth to Dragonscale base camp because it’s the closest to a teleporter for Dragon Isles.

When leveling an alt, this.

For me it is more fun to stay in the area/atmosphere of where I’m leveling. With toys or mounts for mail and mogging- no need to go to the big city.

I like this concept. I do not take advantage of it, but I think it would help with immersion!

It usually depends with me but if I’m taking my time on an alt I’ll keep them at whatever inn is in the area they’re questing in. If I’m really trying to push my leveling then ill just keep them in whatever major city they’re affiliated with.

I normally change them to the BfA city’s inn, since those cities still have their portal options for a few different places, while I level. As soon as I hit 60 and go to the Isles, I go to Valdrakken and change it to the inn in the hidden room (because I personally really like that room and think it was a neat addition). I love the idea of being able to set your hearth to where you’re questing, but never use it myself. I do, however, try to always park an alt at an inn when I’m not leveling them.

I have all my toons hearth set to thier sanctum. Between the dalaran stone, garrison stone, the BfA ring and the guild cloaks I have plenty of ways to get to any capital. I do the weekly anima quest on all my toons which still makes decent gold. :see_no_evil::hear_no_evil::speak_no_evil:

Back in the day, glyph would allowed shaman astral recall to be set at an earthshine

With one being in Org, this allowed me to move my hearthstone as I wanted.

Set to Valdrakken and I use the guild cape to return to the mage tower.

I typically set it to whatever the nearby questing hub is.

Right now I’ve got a worgen druid I’ve been leveling every now and then in Duskwood, so her hearthstone is set to Darkshire.

My level capped toons usually have their HS set to the expansion capital (Valdrakken now, Dornogal in a few months)

Mage is set to Emerald Dream but I never bother to use it.

Two farming druids are set to Orgrimmar/Stormwind because all they do is old world content.

Always set it to the new zone or area Im questing in until max. Then at max, it’s the main city or hub. For anything else, I have a Dalaran hearthstone, A dalaran ring, 2 cloaks to the capital city (never got the green and dont need it) and a garrison hearthstone. Pretty much all Ill ever need.

Set mine to the Expansion Hub and leave it.

I got the Dalaran HS, Garrison HS, and 3 Teleport Cloaks to Orgrimmar for everything else.
