So as I was doing quests in Nazjatar and stopped at New holm. Lenu says"Some land goblin said he invented us and people actually believed him"? And there is also a quote by one of the npc in Mechagon saying Hobart hasn’t exactly been so honest about all of his inventions. So I am thinking one of the following has to be true.
He didn’t really invent them. The ones we see in Nazjatar may have just taken a different evolutionary path.
He invented some of them, but the ones we see in Nazjatar are naturally occurring.
He did, but gilblins have much faster growth rates then we realize and maybe the lack of intelligence was only a temporary effect that phase out over time or they began to regain it naturally.
If Hobart invented them, it couldn’t have been any longer then about 20 years from the current timeline which raises a lot of questions.
Seems natural that Gilgoblins wouldn’t want to believe they were just manufactured in a lab, not good for the feels.
Characters like Sephiroth, Wolverine, Vivi, all had issues that stem from their origins and had to either try to pretend it never happened or embrace it.
well when questing through vash’jir i always just assumed they were some weird goblin mutation since they were out in the ocean, but thinking about it vash jir isnt that far from the BFA landmasses, or the main alliance territories so…
The ideal scenario would have totally been both join at the same time and be partners. There is a large body of water right next to Origimmar and we’ve seen they can survive out of water be competent fighters even without water.
2022 xpac confirmed?
World of Warcraft: Origins of the Gilgoblins.
Personally I think, they should have saved Azshara and Nzoths fight for her own full underwater expac. They could have also taken that opportunity to introduce a bunch of aquatic races, but I have this gut feeling blizzard isn’t keen on aquatic races being playable.
I hope they are just a natural evolution because if one regular Goblin invented a race that is better than them in literally every sense then I don’t understand how Goblins even function.
That sounds like a potential plot for a sci fi movie where someone builds a superpowered clone that ends up taking over. Although the Gilgoblins aren’t really evil from what I see. least the kelfin.
That would be so amazing. Think of the possibilities an Atlantis-esque kinda theme. I’d fall in love.
Plus being able to implement a bunch of new aquatic mounts and use the ones we have currently more often.
sigh a fox can dream…
Have a look at this. This is an aquatic themed project I finished recently. These are the skins for goblins, but a class like this has lots of potential if applied to other races. Even Vulpera could look interesting with this concept. This would be a great way to introduce a bunch of aquatic races similar to how they basically gave us demon races with the illidari and demon hunters.
IIRC we already know that goblins are especially mutable, it’s highly likely that both are true at the same time. Hobart did create some gilgoblins… just he didn’t invent them in a patent office sense. Even if he didn’t know that. The better question is who did then?
