I mean, as it’s been said by a few influencers that I have to agree with. There is a huge red flag in the covenant system abilities. They may not actually be much of a choice. it may boil down to “hit cap level. pick BiS Covenant (cosmetics don’t matter). Grind anima.” regardless of which you want to be in and get cosmetic stuff for you may end up stuck in a different one.
Of course unless they decide to scrap covenant damage ability and go with a more sensible approach that doesn’t burden balance team with an impossible task.
Content drought was a thing in some way for tbc too. The majority of guilds never stepped foot in sunwell so they raided BT/hyjal for a year and a half. For the few guilds that did sunwell they did it for 8 months. And they did it while destroying other guilds by poaching players that were lucky enough to get warglaives, similar to how naxx destroyed guilds by poaching full t2 tanks to get past 4 horsemen. Besides that tbc was dailys and rep grinds. TBC also introduced flying that destroyed WPVP, yet ppl say tbc is the best.
Nope. I don’t know how it’ll be possible but I bet blizzard will find a way to make it even worse. This isn’t the same company that made amazing games 10+ years ago.
Based on many recent developments, I have serious doubts that Shadowlands will be any better than BfA.
The gameplay is still buggered up. Until we have EVIDENCE (not just the announcements, but working game builds) that the GCD change will be effectively undone, I doubt there will be any improvement in this area.
Too many systems in general, and not fun ones at that.
Abandonment of the stuff I did enjoy from Legion and previous expansions, plus a reinforcement of the stuff I dislike.
Feels as if the developers are catering to a VERY specific and hyper-competitive part of the playerbase which I’m not a part of and have no interest in joining.
A general feeling of “no passion” with BfA, again specifically concerning the content I don’t enjoy.
Acti-Blizz’ OTHER games (WC3: Refunded being the latest and most egregious example) are turning into giant warning signs of how things are going on over there.
As far as I’m concerned, there is no longer any reason to give Acti-Blizz the benefit of the doubt. There is no more room for goodwill or good faith.
Produce the goods first, THEN I’ll consider it. Maybe.
I don’t think the “A” and “B” teams exist, it’s just been a convenient and likely coincidental pendulum of reception… best case scenario is the playerbase’s expectations alternating between too high and relief that the last bad expansion is over.
I can agree with this sentiment.
However, I don’t have faith that they’ll deliver on it.
Until I see results, and I mean that AFTER the initial hype train after launch is over with and things have had time to process… Shadowlands will be a no-go.
It will most likely be bad. First they will try to shove obligatory grinding outside or raiding or pvp. Then around 9.1.5 or 9.2 they will realize people still hate that kind of crap, and will implemment a system that will either swap things drastically or give up on some of the forced grind.
I`d wager 9.2.5 is where the expansion will prob be fun for most of the playerbase.
Torghast, the zones, and covenants should be great but I’m just worried about the class changes if they make them any better than now. I’m hoping they make it feel like you’re playing the class that you are.
Maybe…? They have fewer balls to juggle it feels like, and not dividing the story between the factions gives it some semblance of hope, but…
The fact that they’re bringing back so many “classic” characters, even postmortem, fills me with an uncanny dread. I expect them to be treated with the respect and dignity as the most recent revisiting of these characters and concepts, aka WarCraft 3 Reforged.
… Okay, but even ignoring that, even setting that aside… Recently the way WoW has handled its historic paragons has been horrendously embarrassing. Turalyon is supposed to be the paladin, and the Alliance Supreme Commander. And… he’s horrendously terrible at everything except humiliating himself. Getting caught in plotgoop and having to be saved by his wife like a big fat Malfurion, getting his pants pulled over his head by Illidan… They even put him on par with Liadrin of all worthless characters.
That’s your standard for treating the history and heroes of WoW with respect.
I wholly expect Uther to be killed by a pelvic thrusting Nathanos, Kael’thas’ story to end with Sylvanas stuffing him into some sort of afterlife highschool locker, Cairne to be killed off screen again, and Vol’jin to trip down a flight of stairs and die.
I don’t think I’d agree with that. Cata was only considered bad in hindsight. MoP was only considered good in hindsight. At launch the initial opinions were shockingly polarized. There are players who have still to this day skipped MoP because it was “the meme expansion.” I would also not consider BC to be “good”, sub numbers be damned, because what is popular is not the same thing as what is good. BC’s environmental design was outright disgusting, and the story writing was so atrocious it ruined one of the most popular characters in the lore for a decade until his actual backstory could be retconned.
WoD is probably the only expansion that is universally panned for objective reasons. It was a massive nothing-burger from a design standpoint, and it was very clear towards the tail-end of its lifespan that the objective became to get it over with as fast as possible.
BFA is rightly criticized for its time-gating, flawed progression systems, and experimental game modes that turned out to be far less fun than intended. But, at the very least, there is a lot of content in it, and just about everything from an art and sound design standpoint is top-tier material.
Once we move into Shadowlands and beyond, I really do not think the community will look back on BFA as harshly as they do right now.
Not too sure, but if Ion implements another gate grinding achievement for pathfinder instead making it simple by exploring maps just to fly, same talent tree layout, professions being useless with no specific routes, customization on playable races, pvp vendor, heavy gating and other stuff you can apply the list.
Then I can say it will be nothing more than BFA 2.0 Alt edition.
I seriously dont know,I want to have Hope’s for it but, there have been so many false promises by blizzard along with a lot of bait and switch. And so many people are unsubscribing. Game getting older and older.
After the disaster of BFA, artificial time gates, professions basically ruined. I have no intention of returning for SL’s. I’ve gone to classic. Who knows how badly Acit-Blizzard is going to screw up the next expansion. With everyone getting their levels ganked back down to level 50 and the total reworking of all classes and specs. There countless opportunities for Blizzard to screw the whole thing up from day one.
And with the way that blizzard has been phoning is expansion design for the last few years my advice to people looking forward to SL’s is to lower your expectations to less than zero.
