We’ve recently seen some datamining for wsg reputation helms having resilience like stats on them.
I wonder if blizzard plans on updating all pvp gear in the game with this defensive stat to counter the powercreep in SoD.
With all the new op items we’ll be getting over the course of the season ( picture crafting epics as just a taste of what sort of items we’ll get), from new sets added in new raids, rebalanced pve tiers and so on.
Do you think adding or updating rank 14 gear will help it stay relevant in the sea of stronger itemizations that will come along?
Having to have a separate set of pvp gear would be a big L for SoD. Hope those helms were just artifacts and didn’t make the cut.

Given that vanilla itemization is awful, they would be foolish to not do a pretty big revamp.
Resilience is the opposite of 
Rank 14 Gear will already be strong for when it comes out. Think about this. With being held at lower levels with limited raids, players will pvp a lot. I suspect most active players will be exulted with WSG faction at level 25. Also combined with the new ranking system, players will at the max rank for their level cap.
My assumption 40 and 50 cap will not be different. Exulted with AB, all the new goods for pvp gear, etc.
For the 60 phase bands, 2 weeks into that, all those active players will be rank 14 and exulted with AV. Giving them access to AQ40 lvl gear from the start. It will be the easiest gear to farm.
Also they already previewed a pvp item for lower levels. I hope they make more pvp items to fill all of the open slots.
I would keep them as is but not drop them until aq gates can be opened. Maybe have a more specific version where say chickens can get a pvp set which is more for boomchickens.
I would say pvp is really good in vanilla given the ability to annoy, but when entering aq40 everyone having rank 14 gear would be a good start given how much more annoying aq is than bwl. But if you bring r14 into bwl and mc only a few pieces are not replaced by it especially for warriors who don’t have a tier dps set asside from t2.5 shoulders so they would compete for slots not covered by ranking.

PVP gear needs to be in three phases:
Phase A:
- Current PVP gear that we already know
- All normal ranking requirements still in place
- Blue sets available immediately
- Epic sets released halfway between MC and BWL
Phase B:
- Upgraded versions of blue/epic sets
- Phase B introduces updated versions of the non-set PVP rewards (like cloak, neck, etc) and requires rank 11
- Blue set upgrade requires friendly with AB
- Epic set upgrade requires revered with AB
- Released halfway between BWL and AQ40
- Quest to get upgraded sets requires you to turn in your old set.
Phase C:
- Upgraded versions of blue/epic phase B sets
- Phase C introduces further updated versions of the non-set PVP rewards (like cloak, neck, etc) and requires rank 11 plus exalted with AV
- Blue set upgrade requires friendly with WSG
- Epic set upgrade requires revered with WSG
- Released halfway between AQ40 and Naxx
- Quest to get upgraded sets requires you to turn in your old set.
- You can’t skip phases, requiring you to be an active PVP’r throughout the season if you wish to remain updated on PVP gear.
I really really hope resilience stays the hell away from “classic.”

Curious. why the hate on resilience gear? From the surface anyway, it sounds like a good idea.
For me personally its just stats and gear to try and keep up with. Im admittedly biased because i certainly dont have the time to farm a shyte- ton of different sets. So moreso personal bias than anything.
That’s around 600ish wins of wsg.

It requires you to wear it no exceptions.
Meaning not much mixing and matching in raid gear, - assuming they have all item slots with resil.
It becomes the de facto
Appropriate scenario for competitive arenas. Not random bgs
We don’t yet know if there will be a power creep in SoD. To be honest, I hope not 
PvP gear may yet remain relevant in the content it’s intended for.

They said you will get WSG faction rep with the quest and daily pvp events in Ashenvale. This is outside of WSG. There is also new items from the Quartermaster.

There will just be no personality to pvp gearing.
Anyone wanting to pvp seriously will be required to wear the damage reducing sets as they will far surpass pve gears damage
In regular vanilla everyone came with different items and gear. In sod if this is a trend, then you’ll all wear the same items as if it’s arena resil gear. Pve items like damage trinkets and weapons will lose value
It’s the exact same thing as trying to wear full raid damage bis in tbc or wrath. You lose damage wearing it yet you also have less survivabilirt

The question is how viable is just doing ashenvale going to be for rep - especially if you don’t win every battle.
What are the numbers we need to know.
Because someone like myself lets take som for example, it took my team at the time 11 days of 7 to 10 minute wins with zero losses to get exalted. That was with INSTANT ques
Wsg rep is extremely unforgiving and unless ashenvale gives hundreds of exp per win, and the event is often without too much downtime, its still going to take forever
My assumption it’s going to be a grind fest if the quest or the “Npc” is repeatable. Regardless with leveling bands holding back 60 for almost a year will give ample time grind exulted way before you have access to the 60 items.
level 25 for 3 months, level 40 for 3 months, level 50 for 3 months. Just a guess at this point though. Everyone might rage and they remove / reduce the cap time. It’s either going to be great or suck. 
As for the payment plan on the gear would love an honor points as currency which was standard in tbc, with a really high cap of honor and marks of honor so we can do such between phases. If that is not the case maybe have arenas where each time you win you can gain rank points independent of honor grind maybe.
I might also advocate for something maybe like a boe [Bloodkelp Elixir of Resistance] as a pvp reward for winning each battleground each day. Alot of people use pvp to cheat the system for easy starter gear and I believe it is fun to game or take advantage of the system.
