I don’t think people understand how big a deal it is that you cannot drop items on the ground in the WoW engine.
And the implications of what that means.

Nobody can ever explain why player housing is a bad idea, the best they have is that the Garrison (which isn’t what we’re asking for) exists, or that we’ll lose a raid tier or something. Obviously focusing on raid tiers instead of housing is a worse move, since they’re not retaining the casual or RP-focused playerbase with additional raid tiers.
WoW would benefit from two things right now. Lasting and consistently updated RPG features such as housing, especially if they tie into the profession system, and a better investment in the writing for the game.
This game has interesting combat and does challenging group content better than its competitors, but it lacks in almost every other regard. But maybe they should stay in their corner, right?
After all, their neglect of the RPG aspect of the game is doing wonders for the rest of the market. Especially in games that provide these features better.
But other than that benefit for their competitors, there’s no real “good” reason to ignore this request, other than perhaps the possibility that they’ll fail to do it right, because their game director has no idea what he’s doing if it doesn’t involve climbing some difficulty ladder.
There are tons of things you can place freely already, though.
Hey Fancy RPer it not the RPG aspect is lacking I worry about I worry about two thing
how Much they charge us for it or how there gonna be Rage fan base not giving X object or place of land To fill his or her dream Like the thoses really really Far gone the funny farm like Who think there part vamprie, part mermaid, Part fairy and etc and really want high demand:
“I want House in strahalome, That still on fire with burning legion demon as my house gues.”
or I want Nazjatar but with water fill with all naga buddy and Cool old god stuff.
There What they can give and one asking too much to fill that take Off shore wow site they go to get that feeling fill in official game.
Why would new evergreen content designed around time and gold sinks not make them any money? If your point is that they’re too incompetent to make enjoyable content that any one would want to engage with, that’s still not an indictment of player housing as a concept.
I think it would go better this time. Wow at WOD still had a community feel I am told.
that is less now. ITs world of instanced craft. Even I do this. I see oribos for pvp upgrades and that’s about it. Social hub it is not, to me anyway.
I can queue up all night long and many will not see me on chars I run. Unless in say dalaran (either one). A home of late as I clean up wrath and legion mogs (heroic and lower, mythic I want 5 shotty…maybe in 10.0, hopefully). If I am not in pvp instances I am in walk in dungeon/raid runs really.
A legion dungeon/raid with no out? stone it. Wrath many places dump you back to start or, well, wrath dalaran. Trial dumps you here and I have been spamming that decent of late.
No it will not be. They are too busy trying to get Shadowlands over with so they can move on from it. If they did bring in housing it would be a feature in a new expansion most likely.
Case one Do you think gold sink is good if you can’t make that gold I have to do lot for that stupid lightforge mount and yeah It still hurts, And Like the artifact weapons like how they Kill Lore placement of Ashbringer is werid-o that still tranmog them when in story point weapon there is dead.
As Still said they would not care much like they Try a phase, Once it ended or not lot of player like it they drop it like bad egg I be one Shaking my head knowing I saw that coming in mile high.
I’m surprised cross faction would be used to hype 10.0 up lol
I’m more of the thinking that people seeing new zones, new things to do is what will catch their interest but I fear this teams template design is wearing thin on more and more players.
Personally, I think player housing takes a lot of time and resources… me thinks they’ll think up of something else and say ‘‘we heard you and this is the end result’’.
Gold sinks are important and can be healthy for the game. Everyone can make that gold if they put in the effort. Unless the WoW Team arbitrarily decided to price things beyond a reasonable threshold (which would earn them an immediate backlash for predatory behavior in a game with a cash token), but they honestly haven’t shown a tendency to do that outside of a few mounts (maybe legendaries in Shadowlands, but I’ve not really had any personal experience with that so can’t confirm).
I’ll try putting this another way: if they half-baked design player housing in a DOA way, that’s going to be a good indicator they haven’t abandoned their “we know better”/Monkeypaw design philosophies, and the game will be dead or practically dead in the near future regardless. Either the team figures out how to acknowledge the potentially massive casual audience it has continually ignored, or they will move on for good. Player Housing isn’t the only watermark for that, but it could be a big one.
I think no matter what they can come up with, people won’t be satisfied, and will complain. So why bother?
Nope. We had a nice cozy bed in a garrison hall, and everyone complained because no one wanted to leave home and murder other people.
Say what you want But you don’t know what we really need, Player housing is one thing
For us That need the money that need gold… Let be outlaw let be Bad guy if you want this be RPG
Let go robbing Stuff! Now that What RPG element need: “Better loot better pay out.”
Peace.
…People are allowed to enjoy and play the game they want. I can ask the same for the obsession with M+ and esports. When did the MMORPG become a mindless gear treadmill…?
People who collect are just as valid as hardcore folks. Not saying you necessarily were arguing otherwise, but it definitely came across that way.
People enjoy storybuilding and roleplay for their characters in an RPG game. Wanting housing to encompass part of that doesn’t make it any less of an RPG, nor does collecting.
Player housing would be relevant going forward, and something new that players haven’t done in WoW before (garrisons aren’t the same). It’s a different aspect of the RPG experience.
I still play Classic, and I honestly think I see more players there than I do in retail (out questing/leveling, not counting cities). Which is why a lot of people wanted it - to have access to the old world adventuring.
The big thing about player Housing was Blizzard did think about adding it to the game all the way back when WoW first came out. Until Cata, Stormwind had a blocked portal in the canals that was going to be used for Player Housing.
The only way Blizzard would even add such a thing is if they follow the Promised Garrison development (where we could have it anywhere and really customize it). Don’t copy and paste from another game just because players want it. Design it when it comes to the World of Warcraft and it’s fantasy. You should ask yourself the question, does it even make sense for the game at this stage to even have it?
They could offset some gripes to get some backers. We can have the devs backs since something is better than nothing.
One thing to grease the wheels here…racially based housing.
One ding to garrison. Horde especially. Sorry but I didn’t have my blood elf commander going yay…I get mud huts. And for 5000 gold I get more and bigger mudhuts.
alliance got a much better garrison. Hand down. even then, I’d see my alliance elves going this is looking to humaney. Still, better than a mud hut.
I can’t see why we can’t revamp the garrisons after all forts get reworked to a upgrade versions and during they can delete the professions buildings because they are useless.
It’s probably why they went after boosting communities recently.
Can’t have the first plot of land be staked out by Huokan to bot spam advertise boosting.
Well, not all.
There will be SOME satisfied.
