Do you think Blizzard knew?

The only positive with corruption and Blizzard knowing is that at least going forward if I apply of a job, I can ensure that I get more money or whatever even if i don’t deserve it, as long as the fool who interviews me is as “silly” as they are

I don’t think blizzard tests anything in regard to arena. That’s what this whole expansion has been a timeline from one OP trait, item or corruption to another. Their Quality Assurance department must be barebones.

IMO the answer is pretty simple…the whole meme “Beta of Azeroth” really isn’t all that far off.

I think they knew that this expac was a dumpster fire and they were literally using 8.3 as a live 9 month beta for ideas they’d like to implement in shadowlands.

Seems fairly obvious to me because corruption is sooooooo unfinished it’s insane. They didn’t think any of it through at ALL. Think about how bad it is right now, then think back to the first two weeks of the season when echoing void and infinite stars were globaling people. I remember games going no longer than like 45 seconds, people were just falling over. They had no clue.

In theory I really love the idea of corruption; it brings flavor to an outdated gearing system where you have main stat/ 2x 2nd stat. Balancing how much you wear is an interesting choice the player gets to make, with the risk reward factor. Corruption was also genius in the player engagement metric because you can play for 7 months and still not have BiS of BiS and if you do, you grind another set for PvP or your off spec, and I got more excited for a good piece of new corruption than I had about anything else in a while.

That being said I think the whole proccing damage corruptions (gushing, stars, tentis, TD) need to be 100% out of the game or tuned down to be 1-2% of peoples damage TOPS. Infinite stars doing 40% of DH damage in mythic raids, or 30 tanks having world first damage parses with TD stacking, is an actual embarrassment from a game design perspective.

In Mythic plus, on average about 45% of my damage is from double lash, focusing iris, TD4, and lethal strikes minor. 45% of my damage is completely passive.

I think stat amps are a solid idea but they need to be limited to like 3% (not 12%) and capped at how stackable they can be because you start to run into the problems we have now where mages are casting 1.4 second Gpys and warlocks .5 second bolts that hit for 200k.

I think in the end they had a pretty good idea that it wasn’t going to work out but they are using this time to really work on the thing that is the most important to them: Shadowlands.

This expansion is going to make or break the next ten years for this game and ultimately the future of Activision/Blizz, and they know it.

My opinion is that PVP was not even a consideration. With the dev team we have this is a PVE game with little thought at all to the pvp community.
I find it hard to believe anything else with the state of things and the feedback from the community.
I think they have written bfa off and and putting all resources into SL.

If you knew Corruption once stacked was broken and you let it go through then by default you did not care, as the results would be obvious.

If you didnt know Corruption stacked would leave you with these results, then you could argue you care about the game’s integrity but did not forsee this conclusion.

This is why knowledge is far more important then caring in this regard.

Well, there was plenty of feedback saying it was brokenly op, so…

All they had to do was only let one corruption of each type/tier be active in PVP to prevent stacking and it would have been fine. I was convinced they would do that after a few weeks of corruption vendor because it was impossible to not to see how utterly FUBAR the tail-end of the expansion would be with mass corruption stacking.

Sure enough we see the current state of the game and BFA will permanently be known as a testament to Blizzard’s incompetence.

Corruption reminds me of when you’re bored of a single player game you’ve played for months, so in order to milk out some extra entertainment from it you enable godmode/cheats and just give yourself unlimited resources, every power and every single weapon that exists and just kill everyone
