Do you still use Void Storage? What do you use it for?

I just realized I hadn’t used void storage since around the beginning of the expansion and was clearing out some clutter there today. So, this got me wondering how many people actually use it and what they store in it.

Most of what I’d like to store are what it calls “Unique items”, such as certain epics and other oddball items, but these are not allowed. Due to the nature of how it works I assume that’s to prevent you from aquiring too many of the same unique items. That got me wondering what kinds of things would be best stored there.

Thoughts?

I’ve never used it. I’m not even sure what it’s supposed to do lol.

I think I use Void Storage for current expansion crafting materials I don’t need on hand, but other than that I do not.

It is just a bunch of extra slots that cost a small amount of told to store things in. It removes all upgrades and enchants. The items must be soul-bound, not-unique and not stackable. Then you can withdraw the items for free. I originally used them to store interesting pieces of gear for appearances. But now that we can save appearances, I don’t use it as much anymore.

When they first added transmog we had to still have the actual item. So people were suddenly very low on space. Void storage was a place to put some of the junk we want to hold onto long term but don’t need to take out of the bank. Costs a bunch of gold to deposit an item so the idea is that you wont be doing regular withdrawals from it.

My original main Alliance/Horde mains have Void Storage full of old Tier Sets from The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King.

I think I have the Wrath of the Lich King pre-patch Argent Dawn armor sets in there too.

It’s basically just a box of keepsakes now.

It costs 10g per slot, which was a lot at the time, but not so much anymore. It’s a couple of gray items, nowadays.

as a noble paladin serving the holy light, I’d never use anything of the void!

what’s that? eyeball on my forehead? you must be imagining things.

I put in trinkets that have interesting effects that I figure could be useful in timewalking now or in the future.

Also any items with tertiary stats that seem like they might be useful on rare occasions but otherwise are too low ilvl to make sense for me to use

I don’t use mine since I haven’t come across anything that doesn’t fit in my regular bank. I’m curious though how others use it - might give me some ideas!

Dunno. From time to time I forget that Void Storage is a thing. I used to keep things in there that, for some reason or other, I couldn’t keep anywhere else. I probably still have something there but it’s been years since I looked.

I cleared out my Void Storage at the start of Dragonflight, but before that I hadn’t touched it since probably WoD or Legion.

I used to store all the different old legendaries in it. And other various items for optimizing time walking dungeons and such.

Can’t put many items there, like the artifacts.
I have some items there but haven’t touch it anymore in years.

When the transmog system was less stable and you lost mogs I used to put unobtainable gear in it. Then I lost my garrosh heirlooms that were below mythic (had a full set then had 6). So you win some lose some. Its been nice to replace them with remix.

All mine are full on 16 toons. So yeah, I still use it.

In the beginning when it became a game feature, I remember using it… but over the years I’ve forgotten it exists. I don’t think I’ve put an item into void storage in 8+ years, lol.

What are you storing in them?

This is a reason for me to never use it. All that work to upgrade my item only to have it removed.

I’ll pass.
