Do you stereotype people based off their transmogs?

title.

mostly just a thing i’m curious about, since i’ve heard some people do have stereotypes around specific items/mogs but i’d like to know why.

i hear people usually view people with engineering goggles as ‘they’re probably toxic’ and the goofy transmog sets like the yeti/murloc onesie as ‘they are probably sweaty.’ not sure where these originate from, though.

:dracthyr_comfy_sip:

If their mog is silly, ugly or both, I assume they are either very good or very, very bad at the game.

PvPer without a doubt.

unironically the latter is usually my experience lol. but i’ve definitely been in a few heroics lately with that dh tank.

you know, the one in a yeti outfit flying across the dungeon before i even load in and already wiped the group.

Somewhat, lol.

If I see someone that’s unmogged, they’re either a new player (no collected mogs), or very “uncreative”.

But I understand many might not play for visuals on their characters at all.

Some people play just for numbers as well, but that’s not me.

I will roll my eyes at any murloc/yeti onsie mogs, anything that “breaks immersion”, I’m gonna assume those wearing them are less serious players.

You can generally see how hardcore someone is by their mog, elite PvP set or raid gear, etc.

Yea, if they’re a pantsless/shirtless woman

I know I can avoid that person

I spend most of my time looking at health bars not transmogs.

Based on a persons transmog I usually assume they have used the transmog system and play wow.

Hmm? Why? :dracthyr_a1:

No, but I do character names. Like if you’re some unoriginal “Oprahwindfury” or “holycow” clown you’re getting kicked in any group I am in.

I don’t really pay much attention honestly unless it’s a Human Male character and they are shirtless then yeah that makes me stop for a few moments but otherwise not really.

Of all the FOMO I have ever missed out on this is the one that pains me the most.

Yeti onsie on a gnome fits any and all classes.

I would be willing to pay $100 for that onsie if they would put it on the shop. I didn’t know about it at the time or I would have bought a ticket just for that and gave the rest of it to someone else.

I always think “Blizzard employee”.

This is just my opinion, but someone that wants to play just a fully naked character is just lame lol.

Such folk should just get bonked and subsequently sent to horny jail.

Goldshire Inn on Moonguard vibes.

Nothing wrong with being naked “sometimes” like with the toy.

But as a mog? No lol, I raise an eyebrow at you.

I would say no.

I’ve found some mogs hideous others amazing but never really gave it much thought as to the person behind the character.

Sexy female transmogs I assume is a healthy normal person who just likes to look at pretty ladies. Probably somebody who can’t go more than a couple days without busting
Sexy male transmogs I assume is the opposite of the above in every way (on health, normalcy, and personhood)
Silly transmogs are people with the best sense of humor, even better if paired with a silly race

People who don’t transmog are lazy people and often oblivious to basic social norms, frequently not an english speaker
People in onesies I usually assume are some kind of pervert

I used to believe you could tell a lot about a person by what class or race they chose. You still can in some cases. Demon Hunters are almost always edgelords.

I’m just thankful to have legs so I like to show them.

I hope people stereotype me. I always go for the most Dalaran/Kirin Tor mog I can get, my main has always been a mage (this character in fact), and I’ve always played on the Dalaran server. I’ve actually had people /w me about it or mention it in group chat. :man_mage::joy:

i’ve dealt with few of them but the few i have were very unpleasant experiences for several reasons.

i remember one started acting REALLY weird towards me when they realized i was actually a woman IRL (due to my guildmate referring to me by female pronouns in the m+ run we were in.)

just, no.

they were a female draenai in basically no clothes for the record.

It 100% comes off to me as some kind of perversion lol
