Do you roll need on everything as a druid?

That’s what I have realized as well to be perfectly honest.

The way to game the system is to create your own groups.

Choose classes that won’t compete, put items on reserve.

Classic WoW is all about socializing and manipulating yourself to the top.

I just psuedo reserve - ie never bringing classes that will need loot that i want.

Yeah, I suddently realized that when I did a group with a druid tank, hunter, and clothies. When Plate dropped, I actually did ask I could roll need for an OS piece, and they said “yeah, better than vendoring it” - I suddently realized I was the only one that could wear any plate drops!

So now, I always want druid tanks . . .

It depends on your role.

If you are the tank, you roll for the tank gear.
If you are the healer, you roll for the healer gear.
If you are a DPS, you roll for the DPS gear.

If you will roll for gear that is not your role, you have to ask permission first. If you can ask permission first before you fly to the dungeon, the better.

If you’re a tank and you roll for my Tarnished Elven Ring in Dire Maul North Tribute without asking for my permission, I would be mad. You should tell me before flying to Dire Maul North so I wont waste my time.

That’s what I did when I rolled Need on Barbarous Blade as a Hunter. I asked permission first to the whole party that I would roll need on it even before everyone flew to the dungeon. And I got my Barbarous Blade without a hassle.

When leveling you’re going to perform all 3 roles. You can’t just only go for things for whatever role you’re doing in the dungeon because you can’t level in healing gear or tanking gear.

You’ll never need both DPS caster gear and DPS feral gear though. Pick one.

At endgame when you’ve committed to a raid spec it’s polite to stick to your role though. Taking feral DPS gear away from a rogue you ‘might use’ but will probably just rot in your bank until you vendor it is pretty crappy.

On my tank druid I always state I intend to roll on DPS or healer gear before we start so that if someone has an issue I/they can drop group and find someone who is okay with that.

If an item is an upgrade for my main spec then I’m going to need. But if the item is BiS or a large upgrade for someone else, then I’d probably just pass.

For off spec gear I ask first if anyone else needs and if nobody does then I will need if it’s an upgrade.

I only roll need against druids.

I am expected to tank or heal on druid as needed so I will definitely roll on both gears to be able to do both.

I am feral and roll on feral gear.
But i am also asked to decurse in MC and eventually will be asked to heal in BWL/NAXX AQ40. soooo…

I do ask in 5 mans after everyone has the loot they want if i can grab a healie blue for my offspec if noone needs it or will use it for an upgrade.
I keep a back up crappy healie set in the bank.
And I drag it out. once a week to decurse in MC.

I drag it out now and then when i help lower guildies run ST mara or BRD.

And it will only get better as time goes on.

Why is your character name indistunguishable from a gold seller?

I roll based on my role. I ask outside of that.

I roll on my pvp spec gear regardless of current role.

I roll on my role in the party as well.

I pass if its not my current role or pvp gear, unless nobody else wants it.

This^

And this^

9 times out of 10 the player whining about a hunter rolling on an upgrade, or a hybrid rolling on something, is a pure class player that only has to have 1 set of gear. They fume when, when someone that’s not leet like them gets something too.

Its a video game, relax!!

I don’t mind what gear your take as long as you make it clear to the party of your intentions. Usually you roll need on the spec you are, and inquire if you can need that off spec item if everyone greeds.

A Druid who joined my group for BRD introduced this to the group (paraphrasing): “Hey guys, I won’t be rolling on any Feral gear because my guild will not let me raid Feral. Can I instead roll on all healing gear?”

We all agreed, of course! Then HoJ drops. He rolls need. Wins. Boy did that sting. I felt the urges to berate this idiot for misleading us. The group went silent. We killed one more boss to end the run and left.

Druids can only use leather and cloth gear…

feral druids will need agility gear…basically competing with rogues…but usually not even that much as rogues go for crit gear and druids need hit much more…

and caster gear… is caster gear, all casters roll for caster gear

so no… you dont need on everything

That’s just bad players you’re grouping with.

I’m a druid and I tank, therefore I only roll on leather with higher armor than mine, agility, dodge/crit and hit rating.

If you’re playing with a Druid/Palading needing on their off-spec (which there isn’t even dual spec to justify it) just kick them. Being a hybrid doesn’t justify ninja looting.

Druids: Most groups are pretty cool letting you gear for whatever, but if it’s offspec for you and mainspec for someone else in the group, be mindful and let 'em have it. You can passively gear up your offspec. They can’t really passively gear up a mainspec.

Dungeons i roll on gear i need regardless of role (some exceptions obviously, like if somebody really needs it and its just another suit for me ill prob pass). healing gear for example does absolutely nothing for me in openworld, its only good for groups. so if im healing a dungeon should i screw myself out of feral gear just because im not playing feral in THAT dungeon? Raiding is obviously a different story due to number of players and lack of drops.

enhance definitely can use daggers for leveling, no foul there. its actually a misconception that 2 handed windfury is the way to go, daggers and a shield is more consistent with less down time

wind fury tends to not proc enough and then over kill when it does
