Why?
Having siblings, children and/or roommates is one of the reasons. You can’t always log out when you gotta run to the bathroom or other things. Only to find out they deleted some of your stuff or worse, toons.
Ah the joy of leaving a pokemon game out in the open for two seconds just for a sibling to come in and delete the save file
The only acceptable reaction is to b-slap them into oblivion so that they learn not to do it again. It’s a valuable lesson.

Lol I thought this thread was going in another direction. I was going to say they should get rid of that annoying DELETE thing and just add a vendor price to those items, even if only 1 copper. I’d rather take the risk of accidentally vendoring than having to type that in.
If your kid/roommate/whatever deletes your stuff then you can delete theirs too, fair is fair. 
Alright, just for you, you have to use your authenticator instead each time it asks you.
My younger brother is autistic, and would go into these fits of rage. He decided to pick up my Gameboy Color one day and just start randomly flicking the off and on switch. It somehow fried my Pokemon Blue cartridge, and I couldn’t save games after that. It also deleted the save file that was saved at the time. I got scrubbed on
Good point, on 99% of the items it’s an annoyance.
The only recourse is to toss all of their crap on the lawn and set fire to it.

You can restore literally anything that gets deleted though
