Hm, breakpoints are standard in virtually every domain of life and games. What specifically is wrong with them?

Freaking :100: this!

I was never an advoocate for #nochanges, but it seems as though today’s Blizzard just doesn’t understand what Classic’s design is about.

Sure the old ranking system was a massive grind. It was well out of my reach, but you know what? That’s ok! I didn’t need to do it and if things ever change and I want to dedicate the time to it, it would have still been there for me.

I now see a thread advocating for RDF in Era with people making the arguments that they just don’t have time to find a group and that they don’t find the player interaction surrounding finding a group meaningful, so we should all just skip it.

After Blizzard expressly stated that it wouldn’t and why, Blizzard is now bringing RDF to WotLK. Clearly Blizzard is listening to these folks, arguing for convenience over experience. I would have written off that Era RDF post as nonsense but given what’s happening in WotLK and the Era ranking changes, I’m not sure.

It’s a shame.

Retail u can get glad/grand marshal in week 1.
Thing is you actually have to win and not afk, so all in all classic managment is in fact worse lol.

but you’re complaining about classic. don’t you see where this path leads?

Omg it was the jailer the whole time. Since 04. It’s so obvious!!! We are all so foolish.

The fact that we’re still playing classic in about to be 2024 seems to suggest that things are going pretty well.

Let me say this. I’ve been playing since 11/23/2004. Every expansion. Nearly every raid. Top 10 US, 40 mans, casual with friends, semi hardcore. I’ve been a fan throughout all those years. I played Classic and it was a slog. I played BC classic and it was a slog. I am not playing wotlk classic.

HC vanilla just hits different. My wife didn’t want to play it but she caved. Now we can’t stop. HC vanilla is almost like playing back in the day, except you’re a little more skilled and your have resources. Unlike normal classic, you can ignore the meta and still have a good time.

The world feels expansive and is still beautiful with the graphics on full blast. I actually feel like I’m playing an open world MMO which is what wow was always supposed to be. I could argue that HC classic is what retail should be and retail is just a carnival.

Maybe more people will play it

I would pay 10x the amount I’ve dropped in their pay to play money scams just to watch these corporate scumbags get theirs via daddy Microsoft.

Sad truth, like everywhere else the real criminals are stationed above the artists/creatives/coders. Usually forcing the good ones to quit & throwing the “stayers” under the bus when the Pied Piper comes calling (hopefully Microsoft).

Their focus isn’t happiness or games. It’s money. Imagine if Santa Clause was actually using “presents” as a cover to collect data and plant surveillance bugs in each home yearly. Which raked in billions annually to the right buyers.

Blizzard just uses “games” to funnel money into the upper tiers of its leadership.

The best thing you can do is give them 0$. We all know what they are. Even they know what they are.

Karma is coming (or pitchforks)

The quintessential beta male take.

The thing with RDF in wotlk classic is that it was already there in the original 3.3, they would have had to put work into writing it out and that’s why we have it. It won’t get added to Era that would require actual effort.

While I suspect it might actually just be something that could be disabled with a boolean toggle, you may well be right. Whatever the reason though, my disappointment stems from Blizzard taking the time and effort to look like they cared about this issue, enticing those of us who were interested in a no RDF WotLK, then reversing on that decision. Did they even elaborate as to why?

Anyway, if you wanted RDF in WotLK, enjoy!

Why is it always the PVP community that cries when it comes to changes :thinking: and not just this game

There was no prestige with having R14 gear in Classic due to the fact most of everyone who acquired it did so via bracket stacking.
Only a few certain exceptions, aka bracket breakers who actually succeeded like one on Grobbulus did, could really claim that they earned it.

And to make it even better, people are actively encouraging the WoW team that makes Retail to develop new content just for Classic.

“You think you do…” continues to remain as prescient as ever.

I don’t think anybody is advocating for retail design to be applied to Classic, we just want more content that is like Classic. If they can’t handle it, shoot, I’ll do it. I’ll even give them a discount on my probation period, compensated afterwards if they’re happy with my work.

Dang, this really shouldn’t be that hard. Most of us just want a few new enemies and environments to auto-swing our weapons or spam frostbolt at. Don’t overdo it should be the team mantra.

New ranking is for people not good enough to rank up in the old system.

Blizzard doin a fascism.

This is said by those who have no understanding of what actually happened in the ranking scene. Ranking up in the old system was a matter of whether you participated in bracket stacking—not your actual prowess in PvP.

And maybe don’t call fascism on a change that averted actual fascist behavior. Or maybe stop calling it when you have no understanding of the term.
