Yeah, the guards are still stick in the muds. I had issues with right clicking and theft. First thing I did in the bank was steal an apple off a desk and get whacked because I wasn’t paying close attention.
Jerk killed me and took my apple.
the typical answer would be a dual weilding Nightblade.
However, you can do nearly anything with any class, even make a caster tank if you want.
Dual weild or Doublehander skills will be the majority of your melee skills.
After having this happen to me many times, I installed an addon that prevents stealing unless I am crouched / stealthed.
ESO Is the Best Elder Scrolls game to date and I’m not kidding.
Yes I do. Love their Open World Content (Probably one of its strongest point IMO, like in GW2) and the main and even some of the side stories are really entertaining or really good…
Why?
Very simple reason, I can be a Vampire or Werewolf in an MMO… this was the hook that got me… then they added Necromancer and I was sold!
All of those are Illegal to use in NPC cities btw lol
All of them are illegal in the NPC world so it you can’t freely kill or use your transformation or Necromancers powers like we do in WoW with Locks, DH or DK without having guards trying to arrest you…or kill you! Pretty fun.
Beyond that I guess, all the skills, passive and additional powers you gain throw every expansion and carry over the next with the addition to your class… that are integrated to the stories were NPC recognize it and talk about it in dialogs or as you pass by… feels good too. Also the story of ES are always interesting to me…
i tried it but it didn’t feel like an mmo to me. i only got through one area but i just didn’t see any kind of hub content. the hub content there was took too long to get anything going too. maybe that changes in teh end game idk but it just felt like it was mostly like KOTOR online in that why are there other people here
Story and voice acting are its main draw for me.
IMO the PVP is a lot better than WoW, and the deep customization of builds you can produce. Crafting is a lot better as well, which isn’t saying much compared to SL, but it thats your bag, and you like things like player housing and RPG elements it might be the game for you.
The main turn-off for me was the blatant cash-grabs from zenimax, but then Actiblizzard started doing the same thing. Some of them offer actual character advancement “Become a Vampire” or “Get this double XP item” but then blizzard sells boosting services and transmogs as well now.
The very best thing in ESO is the deep immersive world building. If you ask an NPC “Who is Vivec?” You can basically get a 5 minute primer on the whole dark elf belief system, fully voice acted out, with the option to ask more pointed or direct questions as you go, and this in turn opens up even more dialog options. As opposed to WoW where Thrall just calls me Maw-Walker now in a generic text and says his 5 second generic “hi” voice clips. I guess he forgot that we’ve been super-besties and comrades in arms for like 15 years.
I mean, You can steal and pickpocket things and murder people and get in trouble for all of the above. That’s pretty cool. Imagine rogues who actually get to commit crimes!
I bought it and started playing it. I’m a Redguard Templar.
Also got Skyrim.
So I won’t be returning to WoW for a little while. Someone said a few days ago that a lot of WoW players only play WoW. And that Blizzard is terrified of their player base learning that they can pass time with other games and that they don’t need to just play WoW and then complain about how it isn’t very good anymore.
That was me, but I don’t see myself returning to WoW for a while. Other games are just more fun than WoW once you have played all of its content (not including time gated bs).
Yea… the abilities are just bizarre, some of them seem like they were placed with the wrong class. The world looks like a bucket of puke and pixels. The combat is awkward, the movement animations are bad. It’s extremely hard to get attached.
They kinda avoid hubs, yet make hubs. They give you lots of reasons to go out in the world. So hubs are things like lore books and skyshards. In towns, it crafting stations, the undaunted tents. People tend to drift towards Summerset, Reapers Marsh and Vivec for crafting. Wayrest and Elden root for Pledges. Craglorn for Trials. Then each chapter? DLC has dailies for motifs, set items etc. They give people a lot of reasons to move around instead of staying in one spot.
Also one trick with ESO is that you can “teleport” to any player in your guild. Or at least, it drops you into a wayshrine in the same zone. So people can join Portal guilds to get faster access to various spots. Or really any very large guild tends to work.
I have but the combat is just bleh…
I like to play ESO on the console when I wanna sit on the couch and be more comfortable or I’m just taking a break from wow. I haven’t played it on the pc but I really enjoy it on ps4
I’m sticking with WoW until Ashes of Creation hits beta.
WoW never felt like a “real” world to me. And I’m not just referring to the graphics. It feels so task driven rather than making me feel like part of a living, breathing world. I have no stake in anything other than gear and borrowed power upgrades. None of the current crop of MMORPGs offers what I want other than those full loot sandbox games. And I’m not playing them because of the full loot part. I’m not a carebear. I don’t mind pvp and losing stuff. But the entire world should not be open loot pvp. Maybe 1/3rd of the word should be that way and I’d be playing those other games instead.
Anyway, I figure another 1 to 1.5 years before we get a “beta” with all their system in tact ready for testing for Ashes of Creation.
Out of all the ‘Alternatives to WoW’ I’ve played, ESO held the most weight. The only reason I’m not playing it right now is because of the Megaserver system and I was already in it thick with World of Warcraft.
ESO brought a lot of fun to the table, but not enough to get me to jump ship entirely. An RP community on a Megaserver is a dangerous game.
“If there is potential for griefing, there will be griefing.”
Megaservers breed griefing for RP communities.
