Do you play a class for just 1 spec?

Was thinking of undeleting my 110 hunter but the only spec that doesn’t make me outright puke is MM. Would you play a class for just 1 spec?

Demo warlock, I have a few other max warlocks just to have one of each spec, But Demo is by far my favorite and I usually switch them all to demo eventually

My priest and paladin will never be anything but shadow and ret. Basically if it’s a tank or healer or pvp spec, I’m just not interested. Every class I play has at least one spec I refuse to play, sometimes two. Even this rogue, I started as assassination, like it just fine, and I have no immediate plans to try the other specs.

Even my druid is balance only, it was a cat a really long time ago but now that I have a rogue I’ll never go back to that, and my mage, I don’t absolutely hate arcane, but I can’t stand fire, and frost is pretty much my go to there.

I guess I play fewer specs of a given class because I tend not to stick to a single character, if I want something different I don’t respec, I look for a new temporary main. I can’t think of any class that I actually appreciate, let alone use, all 3 specs.

I generally stick with one spec, especially outside of instanced content. I’ll switch to tank/heals some times for instances to shake things up (or because I’m feeling impatient) or tough content (eg. group quests).

I basically only played my DH for Vengeance. I didn’t much care for Havoc.

I only play enhancement on my Shaman and Bear on my druid. I love those specs and dont have much love for the others :stuck_out_tongue:

I do currently.
My favorite spec in the game by no small margin is Blood Death Knight.
But I really just don’t like Unholy or Frost at all.
I tried to play them and enjoy them, but I just can’t, for whatever reason.

I always say, my favorite CLASS is Paladin. I love Ret, Holy and Prot.
But I love Blood DK way way more than all of them put together.

I typically stick to one spec. There are a few exceptions, though

  1. DH - I am sometimes called to tank in raids if one of the 2 main tanks is gon.
  2. Warlock - on the rare occasion I still play my warlock, I keep switching specs because I can’t decide which current spec I dislike the least. I used to run affliction from Vanilla until Legion, but the class was horribly ruined for me with 8.0
  3. DK - I keep switching between frost and unholy, though with 8.3 I’ll probably be staying unholy with FROSTMOURNE!
  4. Rogue - I sometimes play assassin, but prefer combat about 95% of the time. Erm, I mean, outlaw. Stupid pirate theme and RtB… :face_vomiting:
  5. Mage - this is probably the class I’ve played closest to equal time between the three specs, Currently running arcane, but I’ve entire expansions as only one of the three specs.

I really dislike playing a class for just one spec but Spriest is the most tempting for that.

I don’t hate Disc, but I prefer M+ to Raiding and it’s frustrating in M+.

I do hate Holy.

I’ve nearly never touched brewmaster and mistweaver, so yes!

Usually my characters only play one spec, I don’t change very often once it’s decided. And there are some who have specs I just never play. Like demon hunters I don’t ever do Vengeance. Priests I almost don’t like all three. If you enjoy only one then no need to play the others. :slight_smile:

I’m most comfortable with DPS roles, so yeah? Though I have considered playing around with Healing.

I’d never play a class for a single spec, balancing happens all the time and I might have to swap to something more appropriate. And I’m ok with that, I like trying new things.

Yep only play blood. It’s a monster questing. I will go unholy in dungeons but I rarely do those.

I played a Destro Lock for 3 or 4 years straight. I never liked the other specs lol.

I do-- if only because, as someone who roleplays, I usually incorporate a character’s spec into their backstory & characterisation.

For example, my main is an engineer who doesn’t trust people so she’s a BM hunter because a) guns & b) her trusted animal companion. It wouldn’t feel right if she was stabbing things in melee or Lone Wolfing it up.

I feel like it’s hard to not stick to one spec because of gear. Azerite armor makes it kind of hard to swap between them. I personally love many specs for classes. Dk I love all 3. Mage I love frost and fire. Pally I love holy and Rey. Unfortunately it’s just too much of a chore to get Azerite sets or reforge them constantly. Bfa hasn’t been friendly to spec switching or alts

I play my lock as affliction exclusively, the only time i have enjoyed another spec was during MoP destruction but they obliterated that :cry:
