or is it just honor and badges? I can’t quite remember but for some reason I feel like gold was involved.
phew that IS a good question!
You will need to devote your life to WoW for the next 3 months to get the best gear. That’s about it. You can do it.
I heard gold is involved, but it’s not significant if your level 60. It mostly applies to rank 12+. Only the tank 14 wep is sort of expensive if you ever make it there.
Yeah, you need gold to buy the PvP gear. Rank unlocks gear, gold buys gear.
Right, I don’t recall the gear being all that costly, i do remember the countless deaths i had to provide to get it though.
My question is, I was a Centurion (Rank9)
But at some point, the High warlord bow was available to me. Does anyone recall how or why that is?
In later xpacs you could buy most older xpac/vanilla pvp gear for honour points.
Provided you made it to Rank 8 in Vanilla (I believe that was the cut-off), you were able to purchase all of the PvP gear for transmog purposes in Cata or later.
I got rank 9 in vanilla, and think i bought the HWL bow in between having MC on farm status and seeking rhok, to getting BWL on farm and getting that super duper awesome crossbow from BWL.
Gold is definitely involved.
IIRC, it’s somewhere around 40 gold for the full blue set, around 60 gold for the epic set, and around 15-20g per weapon.
(I remember one of my friends hit HWL and had to borrow 100g from me to afford all the weapons, in case he wanted to respec later.)
I’m pretty sure this did not happen as stated, since you can’t buy the HWL bow with rank 9; at least not until the 2.0 release and honor rework, at which point you would no longer have been progressing through BWL.
no if i remember right its just honor but av weapons like the unstoppable force do.
@OP, yeah some gold is needed. It’s not super expensive but make sure you have some saved up for the day you hit the rank requirement to buy it. I’m 100% sure on this as I had to borrow gold from my guild master when I hit rank 14 to buy my weapons because I was broke from non stop pvp and repair bills lol. (:
Probably from the TBC prepatch. For the last month or so of vanilla, the TBC honor system was put in and everyone could buy whatever pvp gear they wanted by grinding BGs and spending honor since the rank system was gone.
Well you may be correct. But perhaps my guild wasn’t on the cutting edge of progression? I mean, We definitely had moved on from BWL when BC came out, but we probably weren’t a server first either. Either way, I apologize for incorrect facts if they were in fact, incorrect.
Once the BC pre-patch came out, for a few weeks before BC hit, you could buy all PVP gear for honor and gold, no ranks needed.
Also as a side effect of the patch, you could display your highest rank ever achieved and not just the current rank, since the ranking system became absolete starting that patch.
Everyone zerged BGs to get welfare epics and freaking Sergeants were wielding r14 weapons… le sigh
This I think was the correct answer. My guild was a little late to the party, so we were progressing through MC and Ony when BC was about to be released, and had yet to have any Rhok components drop. (i would have gotten the first leaf in the guild as the XO of said guild) So i got my welfare epic (heheh) as a stopgap improvement that lasted about 2-3 weeks til the leaf and sinew dropped.
you buy with gold when you have the rank
it’s relatively cheap
About 4-9g per piece for the blue set items.
Thanks for all the answers, I havwe about 400 gold after buying my 60 mount and was worried I should be grinding gold.
Sounds like I’m good to go, doubt I’ll get past rank 10.
Just keep in mind that AV exalted epic gear which is easy to get is more expensive than that.
Yeah, TUF I think is ~120-130g.
