Do you lose interest in playing a boosted character?

It seems like whenever I boost a character I always eventually just lose interest in playing them because I haven’t really spent the time growing attached to them like while leveling. I hate leveling how it currently is now though, too.

What is your opinion on boosted characters, do you have a hard time growing attached to them, too?

Nope. The only time I got bored of a boosted character was because of the race I chose for it. Once I cured that problem, I’ve been active on three boosted characters for the last 3 months.

Even set my main aside to work on them.

Not me, my most played character in Legion was my boosted druid.

I wish I had leveled my druid instead of monk for BfA. I just can’t make myself do the whole war campaign again.

I don’t have an emotional attachment to any of my toons. They are just pixels and numbers.

I haven’t used my boost token but I did create this DK version of Gassavia, and what you’re describing has happened. I don’t play her often like I do my other alts and I think it’s because the character hasn’t “grown”. I tend to become more attached to my characters — gameplay speaking of course – the more they level.

Yes, a boosted character feels incomplete to me. I’ve only boosted alts of classes I already have, since I’d otherwise be skipping the majority of the learning process. And then starting at 110 with no prior rep kind of sucks. Every expansion previously worked on simply doesn’t apply to the character.

I feel disconnected to my boosted characters.

I connect with toons as I level them. leveling is fun for me, but rep grinds I dislike.

I have no issues playing a boosted character. The ones that I boosted are still in my group of regularly played characters. If you choose wisely, it’s a no-issue.

Without boosts I wouldn’t have alts. I don’t connect through the levelling process, it is simply a means to an end forme.

Maybe it’s not about what our characters consist of but more the work that people put into their characters, in a lot of cases, over many years at this point.

Obviously they are virtual things.

Meh, maybe more of a rp thing? I don’t have backstories for my toons, don’t to.

So, don’t really identify with them on any emotional level. They are simply tools.

Maybe for some.

I mean I definitely care about my Warlock and Paladin more than I would a boosted character, because I’ve invested much time into them. For me, there’s definitely a difference.

Not saying you’re wrong btw, or how you feel about your characters is wrong or anything like that

Gethard is the only character I boosted from scratch and he’s been my main since Legion came out. That said, I generally don’t like the idea of boosting, and wouldn’t use a boost other than the free one they give when you purchase a new expansion. But I also will not force myself to level up another character given how much I dislike leveling in WoW. So what to do?

100% lost interest.
I got back into wow for BfA, so i got my free 110 boost. Originally i was leveling a Troll BRM Monk, loving it. Around level 50, my real life buddy said “oh come play alliance with me” so i used my 110 on a new monk, got it to 120, and havent played it since.

I ended up leveling this mage from lvl 1 to 120 and use him as my main. Now i have 5 120s and enjoy them all except my boosted one.

I feel like the origin and progression feeling, and the overall connection to the character, dont exist for boosted chars.

Edit: typo

Nah.

You spend enough time playing something, boosted or leveled normally, it’ll eventually grow on ya.

Not really… though I haven’t been playing as much. I am rather fond of my little dark iron dorf that I boosted even if I don’t play him much.

I feel more attached to characters I’ve recently leveled, or have strong memories doing certain content. I did boost this guy, but I leveled him to 60 first to get the profession boost when they still did that, and I played him during Cata, so he’s a bit of an exception. On the other hand, I leveled a void elf to 110 for the heritage armor and haven’t really played her at all since, though it’s more to do with not liking the Alliance that much.

I can’t get gnomes, humans and dwarves past level 20 before I get way too grossed out. I can’t get my KT past level 40 just cause they looks absolutely nasty.
So regardless of the boost I still wouldn’t be able to play it because I find them unappealing.

Also, their aesthetics are super bland and unoriginal and severely lack the creativity for me to really get in to them.

I definitely know the feeling you’re talking about. I’m not exactly an RPer, but I do like to imagine personalities and backstories for my toons, and no matter how carefully I craft one for a boosted toon, they just never quite grow on me like the ones I leveled from scratch do.

There’s something about going through all the low-level quests and imagining how my toon would feel about them that kind of cements my interest, I guess. I have the same problem with race-changed or faction-changed toons, because then they’re not the same character.

I do lose interest in boosted characters, they have no story and personality for me. The levelling process is long, but it makes me feel for the character . I’ve deleted every boosted character I made, now I have a 110 boost sitting on my character select screen and I dare not use it :S.
