Do you let the new expac honeymoon period cloud your judgement?

Have you had issues with this game, but continue to buy into new expansion hype thinking “this time will be better”?

My sub is active at this moment in time, but I chose to “vote with my wallet” as many suggest by not buying Shadowlands. I am tired of certain design philosophies that I disagree with. I won’t get into the details to start a debate or argument on what aspects of the game people like or dislike, it’s just an example.

So, I am curious, do you let new expansions cloud your judgement, only to feel that familiar feeling of disappointment a month later?

The honeymoon period is 1-2 weeks at best. So…no…I play this expansion because I mainly do raiding and that’s the only part they probably got right…

Nope.

While there are aspects of SL I do not like, there are enough to keep me interested and having fun.

Sorta a loaded question fishing for negative responses, though.

I mean, you’re not wrong, I clearly tried to ‘vote with my wallet’ as I said.

I get that, wasn’t what I was referring to. You are obviously more than welcome to “vote” in any way you prefer.

I think its fine, nothing stops anyone from saying “nope” to my loaded question

There hasn’t been an expansion that didn’t have something I didn’t like. Thankfully all of them had enough different aspects I was able to find something I did like.

Currently I am still really enjoying Chromie time and exploring Bastion.

If you set the bar low, there is no disappointment, only Zuul.

No, I came in not expecting much and have had a ton of fun playing with my friends so far.

My only issue now is a lack of goals, I have the armor set I wanted to unlock from PvP. On the PvE side my guild that died after we got AOTC palace in BFA failed to revive so I have little interest in raiding and while I enjoy doing M+ with my friends it’s not really a goal of mine to push it.

I have been thinking about working on some alts on the side to unlock more elite PvP sets but my friends are not really into PvP so I don’t know If I want to PuG more.

Most of my issues are my problems and not something wrong with the game. I hope we get the twisting corridors soon, that sounds like a nice goal for me to work on for a while.

Interesting, I suppose I could say it is my issue that I dislike something the game continues to enforce, its not wrong… just means the only one who suffers is myself.

I am not the target audience for SL so I have not purchased it. I am playing mainly in Legion. I have some artifact appearances on some classes that I never got around to doing and am working on those now.

I’ve leveled a couple new toons. I’ve got a couple more ready to play in Epic BGs since that’s the group content I enjoy. Leveling in those has been a lot of fun.

I only buy a token’s worth of game time at a time. It lapses. I pop a new one the next time I log in which may be a few days after the last game time expired.

I’m playing less, but still having fun when I do play. When I run out of things I want to do or alt slots for leveling via BGs, I’ll just stop playing. I don’t have anything I “have” to do and it’s kinda nice.

I am re-doing Legion content too xD getting holy priest artifact appearances.

yep. was super excited for shadowlands to drop. then i get into it a few weeks and there are things that annoy me. just as bfa had things that annoyed me.

its like the devs get so close to a great experience and then just throw in some arbitrary nonsense to just piss everyone off.

There certainly seems to be recurring limitations that the game continues to enforce, like timegating for example.

I couldn’t get excited from what I saw during development and in interviews.

I didn’t purchase Shadowlands, I play only classic right now.

I lost interest in wow’s lore and story post BFA.

I still really enjoy the things I enjoyed. The leveling was great, Torghast is great, the dungeons are great, and the raid is great.

But boy do I dislike the systems in place right now. My action bars feel over-crowded, there’s really no reason to do casual stuff anymore, I just can’t find a reason to log in to play casually.

I’m oddly missing having something to farm. As much as I hated the infinite traits and stuff to build into, I got so used to it that I think the game feels empty without it. There’s literally nothing interesting for me to work on outside of raid and Torghast. I could run a M+, but why invest that time and stress for a low chance at getting a possible upgrade?

I got a panda dk, two hand frost back, and TF gone. I can over look the balance issues every version of wow has with this.

With their history they will swing the pendulum back and add in another artifact power system xD

I’ve had whatever the opposite of a Honeymoon period is with Shadowlands. I like Bastion, at least!

I’ve been farming old raids but I can’t do the mythic Legion ones anymore and it’s very annoying.
