Lol we had a feisty hen named Adobo.
She was a brave chicken but lacking in common sense.
She wasn’t afraid to chase anyone.
She tried laying her eggs in a tree.

I’ve got to say animals being loved and treated right really makes me happy, so this thread (and showing how much people love their pets by their affectionate and silly nicknames) seriously warms my heart
And it makes me feel a little less silly about all the crazy/affectionate names I call mine
I have two cats and I call them both Bssbssbss. I think they like their name.
I lied, okay. I just didn’t want people to know my dog’s name is actually Benjamin Franklin because of the silly way I name pets. We also had a cat named Abigail Van Buren (Abby) and another dog named Mojo Nixon (Mojie). Happy?!
Our cat’s name is Shostakovich, we just call him Shosti. He reacts almost equally to any word stated in the same baby voice lilt. At this point I’m pretty sure I just have him conditioned to my voice + time of day= food time.
Gonna be weird when I go back to the office.
5 cats and well its normal to shorten their names well calling them in at night. I have nicknames for them.
Cooper - CF (short for chinese food)
Rustic - salt and pepper chicken
Stripper - kahn or tso chicken
Patches - kumpow chicken
Gingaclies - orange chicken
I have a Chihuahua named Raven~
Exes dog was named Jude, we called her Judy Butt
One of my ferrets had the most complicated nickname evolution of any pet I’ve had. His name was Archy. That turned into The Arch. That turned into Arch-Comma-Space-The. That turned into Comma Space. Finally, that became C.S. People unfamiliar with us were always confused how “Archy” became “C.S.”
For another of my ferrets, Shoryuken, we called him Sho for short, but his vet called him “Shorey” (like “story” but with an H), which I loved.
My girl ferret, Hitomebore, we often called “Hito” (pronounced: “hee-toe”) for the benefit of those who couldn’t pronounce her full name. I often called her Hito Hime because she acted like such a princess always. My best friend called her Inaho-mama, which is a super obscure reference to the anime from which her name comes, The Master of Mosquiton. It’s amusing to remember literally none of that mattered because she was stone deaf and, to her, her name was a specific motion of my fingers. (She was hands-down our smartest ferret and was trained to what was essentially sign language.)
My cat, Tiffany Anne (and don’t you dare forget that E in front of 10 year old me), was often “Ni” or “Miss-a-ni”. When in trouble, she became “Miss-a-ni-ANNE” and boy did she recognize when she heard her middle name.
I completely agree with you. However, I also think it really really not a good idea for people to use pet names – or ANY family names - for security anything. It’s like when places ask for my mother’s maiden name for a security question. Since the start, I’ve use something completely different when forced to use mother’s maiden name for security… so it would do no one any good to look up my mother’s actual maiden name. You would enter it and be wrong.
i have a cat named Tweak. she is also very familiar with and will answer to “Oh my god shut the ‘frick’ up!” she seems to think its a term of endearment…
