Do you have a limit of how many alts you have?

I have this Priest and 3 alts.

During Shadowlands I tried 2 other characters but deleted them because it felt like too much. Feels like 4 characters is my limit.

Well I had like 32 60s in Shadowslands…

It depends on what you mean by “alt.” I log into 8 characters a couple of times a week and have been slowly leveling them through WQs…but I am only planning to gear one of them.

Great question, I have a limit of 60 because that is the account limit and I am unwilling to commit to paying for another subscription. However, I have fewer characters than the limit right now. Some are twinks and have unobtainables like flying and Molten Core raid gear at level 25. Some exist because I made them with friends who’ve died and I like remembering them when I see the characters we made together. Some are for farming old content, some exist to quell my unending need for more hunters, and some exist to enjoy in Mythic+.

I’m leveling my Darkspear Shaman a little bit right now and will eventually do the same with my Dark Iron Pally and Mechagnome Mage.

There’s a lot of quests and stuff to do at max level though and that gives me hesitations.

I have an army of characters. I play whichever Im in the mood for. Could be any one of 40 or so.
Im going to TRY to keep it contained this time around. Sticking to my BM Hunter only till I get renown up to at least the 30 range. Then I’ve got an Rshaman, Destrucion Lock and Unholy DK that I’ll bring it as alts at some point.

I seriously doubt I’ll be able to restrict it to that, however, given that I LOVE this expansion

I generally stick to the same character. Every now and then I’ll add an alt to the line up, but not many. Legion was my only exception, I had one of every character capped so they could get each mage tower appearance.

That said, their “progression” only involved getting the LFR Antorus tier bonuses so they could over power the challenges. For the most part I prefer to stick to a main and my primary alt will be miles behind in terms of progression.

I did not care much for Shadowlands and ended up with almost 30 characters total just from leveling new characters instead of doing SL stuff.

That’s how I got to 6 characters at the end of SL lol. That’s a lot of characters for me personally.

My minimum tends to be one for each of the four armour types. After that it’s all the professions. After that it’s all the classes. The most I’ve ever had at max was during Legion when I got 6 there.

I reached the actually limit set in game once. Did delete a fair amount but I still have quite alot.

I have one of each class, I play Alliance so most of my higher levels are there but I also have some high level Hordies. Just my lock and pally are currently 70 though. Think my druid will be next or my rogue since he makes potions for me.

They broke leveling and made it stupidly easy. Prepare for everyone to have an army of alts and people playing the current FOTM META class. I wish leveling was still considered content instead of an obstacle to get to end game. I know I’m in the minority but I liked spending x amount of time on a new class/spec to learn it. I leveled a toon from 1 to 70 over this last weekend, (absolutley absurd imo) No one should be able to level a fresh class in less than 10 hours played.

The most I ever had active was somewhere around 35. At some point I felt it was too many, probably after the release of a major patch. I then had some fun cleaning up my roster. I tried a few combinations on a few realms, like one tank, one heals and 3 dps. Then they were more divided by race. Eventually I settled to one of each class, plus 1 extra hunter and warrior. And I try to finish the main campaign on all of them but this time I think it won’t be so easy. If I get too discouraged I might focus on one of each armor type instead, because I agree that 4 characters would be a sweet spot.

No. I have over 30 alts lvl 50+ and a handful of lower level ones.

Most I ever got to max level was 11 in Shadowlands. I have a few at BfA cap, two bank alts and a handful of characters who rarely get played. I try new classes like Evoker, or Demon hunter but have little interest in them.

Rn I’m running 3 characters over 365 ilvl Warrior, paladin, shaman.

I don’t believe I have given myself a hard limit. I feel as though my character limitations are more correlated to my interest in class and race options and combos
