For this new game? I have no personal stakes in it all lol I just thought it seemed interesting. From this trailer it feels like some of the zones are literal WoW zones like Ardenweald or Stormsong Valley reskinned. Heck I think I even see a literal demon Hunter with glaives in there (pause at 1:29). It feels like no joke, this game is something China may have fabricated to replace WoW for all their players who just lost access?

That dragon… there’s no way they didn’t look at the Cataclysm cinematic ending, and copied it shot-by-shot. That movement is exactly like Deathwing. I doubt they used the sourcecode but I’m definitely feeling some Revendreth, Stormsong, and even some Karazhan in the trailer.
FYI WOW ran on a super old inhouse video game engine, making it from scratch would be so much easier these days than stealing them. Also its Tencent game not Netease.

They were the ones running WoW in China so it was on their servers.

Not too sure and I’m not as well versed in this stuff so maybe Source Code is the wrong phrase to use. I guess main thing I’m getting at is (and again idc if this game succeeds, doesn’t succeed, etc etc.) do you think some stuff in this game looks eerily similar to WoW? I know the whole “WoW clone!” thing has been tossed around for years but some stuff in this trailer looks straight exact almost. Like pause it at 2:30, isn’t that just one of the Faceless Ones reskinned? Like the crab guys that serve the Old Gods just reskinned to look like some sea giant? Idk, might be overthinking but feels like this game was made to replace WoW in China which I’d find to be an interesting conversation lol.
They’re not above yoinking IP with or without filing the serial numbers off in much the same way that submarines are not above the clouds.
If you decide to do business in china, you must share things like that, according to their laws. Manufacturers must share designs, and that’s why you can see exact copies of many devices that are a fraction of the price. I’m sure the same laws apply for software. Also, according to one of the co founders of HomeDepot, he said that many of their suppliers are quietly moving manufacturing into countries like Indonesia, Vietnam, ect.
Tarisland has nothing to do with WoW, it’s not very similar. Art style is much more modern and detailed. It’s not even a really similar game type. It’s more like Vindictus X Albion, high fantasy Warframe type vibes. It is built for mobile first. It is a mass hysteria to call it a WoW ripoff.

Why wouldn’t they? Who’s gonna go over there and make them stop if they steal IP (which they do through their military computer divisions).
That’s what I’m saying, as said I have no personal stakes so imho it’d make a lot of sense to me if they utilized WoW’s engine, source code, or whatever they have from running the game all these years over there to make their own unique WoW IP. Especially now that they no longer have WoW and all those players will need to move onto something else. Seems like a big plotline considering how recently this game was announced and just… I know this is personal opinion, it just looks like a lot of assets from WoW are used in this game lol.
fortunately no american company would ever do that stuff. we live by a strict code of honor here.

it’s definitely a thing, but there’s a point where it’s more effort to reverse engineer it then to just build your own.
Looks like the next WoW killer is on the way.
