My favorite past time in WoW is wpvp but lately whenever I engage in it with the other faction they seem annoyed rather than pleased, like I’m ruining their day for attacking them, like I’m a jerk or something.
The only other game I play is GTA Online, it’s more of a sandbox game where you rank up but again. The majority get butthurt if they are attacked, like there needs to be a legit reason for attacking.
I don’t remember players always being like this when attacked, most in the past were quick to fight back instead of just standing there or trying to run away.
No. Its part of the game for a reason. There is a difference between corpse camping someone and ganking though. Definitely don’t respect players who don’t fight back. Keep doing what you’re doing.
Particularly in Vanilla, getting ganked by certain classes just meant… death. If a Warlock jumped me while I was finishing up killing something, my only hope was to Travel Form with HoTs ticcing, which was super ineffective while a Felhunter ate them all and I have all the bonus Healing of a Feral…
Duking it out with a Warrior or Rogue was also less than fun depending on their gear since the fight could take quite a long time. If I’m not in the mood to waste time dueling, I’ll just run or let them kill me in a place I can get back to more easily so I can keep doing what I’m doing. The problem with wPvP in Vanilla was that folks on the dominant side would just stick around, so if I needed to farm that area, I just had to leave and do something else. Not every class has the means to turn the tide even in a poor match-up or being outnumbered, so it was fruitless to do much outdoor stuff.
It is why I made alts that could farm things in dungeons, and why I eventually left PvP servers for good in TBCC. Even when there is a better likelihood of success, sometimes it just eats up time you don’t have. It isn’t like it generates anything useful…
I only get annoyed when I’m ganked in a blatantly unfair situation. Like when it’s a 3v1 or I’m half health with a mob on me or something. To be honest, the vast majority of the time I’m ganked in those situations. Nobody respects the honorable 1v1 anymore.
