Not talking about players who might casually pick up a monk because their raid team needs one, but people who have consistently mained a monk for multiple expansions just because they love the class, through it’s ups and downs. I’ve always kinda felt like whenever I meet other monks (especially MW) that there’s a kind of similarity and understanding between us.
I mean I definently enjoy seeing other MWs and Brews play. Rickblack for instance is one of my favourite MWs to just watch or listen to because its just interesting to see how different we all play.
But all WWs can go to hell. We deserve it.
Absolutely. Monks attract a certain mindset of people for sure. It’s generally really easy to pick out people who are monks vs those who just play the class.
And it’s not just a WoW thing either. I played Everquest for many years and there’s a similar camaraderie between monks there. They may bust each other over which race is best (Iksar is, if you were curious) but at the end of the day it was all good.
Depends. It’s rare for me to see MWs and BrMs. I respect the ones that don’t die.
WW’s is a little different. I feel like I can count the amount of other WWs I’ve seen in PvE content on one hand. However, that’s probably because I’m the only WW in my guild.
PvP wise, I look down on Necro WWs especially if I smell fotm on them because they generally don’t perform well. Those that know their stuff get a quiet salute from me.
My GM played monk from BFA until 9.2. I always said things like “us green boys have to stick together” lol.
Although I’m still on the WW train, I was sad to see him switch to Hpal this tier. I don’t think I would’ve had the same reaction if say, we were both shamans or warriors.
coming from a hunter main where 1/3 of the raid can be other hunters, it’s definitely a comradely feeling when I see another monk, especially mistweavers.
makes me feel less special for not being the only guy giving 5% physical mystic touch though
Absolutely!
I think Monk Discord is S tier. There is so much accessibility to the top monks and hear their thoughts and opinions. The fact that we get a podcast devoted to the class too. Out of all the classes I’ve played, Monk has, without a doubt, the best community.
You can certainly smell your own.
Yeah, I totally agree. If you ever have a technical question beyond the scope of the guides, you usually get an answer from a true knower within the hour within the hour. Peak is fantastic.
I usually try to switch classes every expansion to shake things up, but not sure I’m going to do that in dragonflight. Monk has been a great experience this expansion (balance grievances aside lol).
