I do. Another poster was saying that for Vulpera (filthy furries I’ll kill and skin them all!) Blizz just copied and pasted the available Goblin classes.
It was true, except for monk.
(A little off topic, remember when they said Worgen and Gobs couldn’t be monks because “the animations would be too expensive to make”? Well a Pandaren using the Orb of Deception can in fact get Worgen and the monk animations are all there.)
Back on topic, this made me realise I’m not the only one who just randomly forgets monks are in the game. I do this little quiz thing with a fellow high-IQ buddy and we’ll ask each other the silliest things, such as what’s on the back of the Wyoming state quarter, or, in this case, name all the classes in WoW.
I forgot monk.
…And it’s one of the three classes I play seriously.
In fact, my monk is sometimes my main.
I do NOT forget Pandaren when asked to name all the races.
However, I forgot monk when asked to name all the classes.
Explanations? The one I can think of immediately is that as the only new class that hasn’t been a hero class, monk is sort of in this odd place of perpetual shelf dust. However, there’s been such turnover since Cataclysm (the last expac where there were not monks) that I can’t think new players don’t routinely select the class which then becomes their main, resulting in close to balanced numbers with the other non-hero classes.
If I’m just going to talk from my own biased self, it might be the splitty ability, which changes your mog and portrait to something horrid for the duration and sometimes it stays after. It’s a huge turn-off of the class for me. I hate that we can’t glyph this to make it just copies the character with maybe a slight coloured aura for each copy.
