Do you ever get bored with your main?

I main a shadow priest, but 2 days ago I lost all interest in it. No idea why

I was playing some BGs (winning) then all the sudden I was just like “Why do I play this class?” And ever since I’ve just wanted to drop my priest and main something else

Does this happen to anyone else? Have you guys ever lost interest in your main for no apparent reason?

Now I’m just playing alts trying to find something I like. Leaning towards warlock, but we’ll see

Technically speaking, I get bored with my main everyday. But that’s if I play it too much.

Otherwise, come the next day, I’m hopping back on my fire mage.

This will always be main, even if I don’t play her, anymore. She’s the first character I ever made, when I began in BC. She’s raided the most. I’ve unlocked most of the expansions/content with this character, along with titles and/or mounts. I just haven’t been interested in later expansions, as of late, but she will always be my main, no matter how long nor little I play her.

If that character is all I’m focused on yeah. I try to limit play on my main to 2/3 of my sessions a week and use any other time in game on alts. Helps keep it fresh.

I’m also not pushing content, so that makes it easier.

I started out in WOW on a shadow priest during legion. I came back for shadowlands and decided to roll a druid. I try to do alts in here but havent found another class i like playing yet.

Always and more so when there are changes to the class.

I rotate the characters who get focused on every expansion. Keeps things interesting.

If it’s a challenge you’re looking for, roll a Druid and collect gear to make all four specs viable, then master them. That should keep you busy for a while.

Not really, though I do play alts on occasion.

I have what is basically a “dual main” setup. I have the main character I raid on, and the main character I push keys on. Both of which are heavily optimized.

That’s a design goal to make you play more. Every class feels meh so you keep playing new ones.

Yes, because I love the theme and his healing spec, but even though the Nature Wizard appeals to me, the way it does DPS sucks.

Not really,I find out all the flaws he has to entertaining ,like the oppies of speeding off the cliff ,or even blinking too far. Truly the most valuable character to play.

Every patch. I attempt to do alts, realize I don’t want to do everything all over again, then just raid log.

This expac I flat out quit the game.

No. Only play this toon. My Alts are just there to level during expansion end content droughts. over 470 days \played on Sul. Next closest is around 40.

only time i really get bored with my main is when im “gated” to do things i want to do. like take for example this mage which was my main for 6 straight years. would of mained it in SL as well but i benched it for a different reason. i actually benched this mage for a short time within those 6 years maybe like 2 weeks i think it was back in legion.

Why? because i was trying to gear up doing M+ given yea i dont like m+ and im not pro at it but i tried pugging into groups get declined probably cause my ilvl was too low compared to other dps applying. did this for maybe 1 hour straight nothing but declines for keys i can actually do but due to lower ilvl i got declined. then i made my own groups tried to push my own keys state in the title “learning” something like that people i suppose dont read the title at all so we get the group going and get tanks or healers who just try to bum rush the dungeon we wipe maybe once or twice and when they find out oh were not gonna time it they just leave. more rarely i’ve had some leave right after i put my key in.

things like this is what makes me bored of my main; not so much “bored” but frustrated so i second guess why am i playing so and so when i could play say a healer figuring oh im not gonna deal with that as much as i do playing a dps spec despite it is meta. since dps is more dime a dozen especially mages.

this was years ago of course now days idc when i came back for SL i mainly benched my mage because after the 6 years not much has really changed with the class rotations are pretty much straight forward so yea unless i actively swap between say all it’s specs it does get boring but with how WoW is typically 1 spec is good for almost every single type of content if your looking at mages. giving little reason to play another spec. with other classes such as say hunter back then SV was the go to for PvP but it probably changed up a bit.

im not trying to blame other people or anything im just saying it doesn’t feel as good to play your main when people do things like this and so you start to doubt yourself. it’s more of a personal mentality issue for me. kinda always had that issue in any game especially since i grew up chasing the meta in different games but with WoW its probably the worst since i think it’s one of the most competitive games i’ve played long term wise. the other games were competitive yea but not like this.

i never really got a main, i did play a lot in legion on my shaman…
then in BFA it was warrior…

but throughout it’s been some alts, honestly all were alts…

I just can’t find anything that grips my interest.

Ya. PvP main.

I log on to an alt and realize I have to grind renown / do korthia / do maw / do torghast / grind honor / get slapped around by people with better gear / etc

I just don’t wanna.

I know they made some ^ of this better but I still need to grind renown / find all my conduits / get slapped around by people with gear / grind for leggo / grind for honor / grind for conquest-

-and I log back on my main. I just want to play arenas.

E: forgot I have to get a memory from castle nathria on an alt. Idk what the lfr queue time is but I don’t even want to look lmao

Its not you, I haven’t played any of my characters in several weeks.

The current system sucks.

I miss the MOP and WOD specs, except for Survival. I like the Survival spec in game currently.

Happened to me at the end of WoD, I also mained a priest. I got so tired of dots and her lack of mobility. I rolled a hunter and haven’t looked back, I love hunters so much. I do wish I could give all her reps to my hunter main though, all 100 exalteds. :upside_down_face:

Yep, many times.

I bounced around mains and even factions over the years.
