Letting them go 4+ runs without even mentioning it is pretty bad on blizzards end could of just immediately restarted the first time they used it. Also not announcing items that they decide are banned it also weird, other esports are very clear on what is/isn’t allowed (at least stuff that is known), from my experience in other games anything new discovered was always mentioned to the players with a “don’t use/do this” at that level. Outside of obvious exploits/gamebreaking things having this big of a punishment is wild.
It’s not believable imo that blizz/admins didn’t know until right after the day ended, if they truely didn’t and aren’t actively watching for things like that then the admins are just straight up horrible at their job. Not much you can do now though, just gotta know to ask about everything that might ride the line

I completely understand what you are saying, but they should have stated 'anything". They easily could have stated a modifier such as “This includes potions, stat foods, (etc. etc.)”
I myself, do not equate pots with gear. I see them as separate from gear (Gear to me is a ‘slot’ holder), and I would have at that point done the same.

And this is why Blizzy esports are a joke.
LMAO.

Complete rigged BS! They didn’t want to see Dorki take down Perplexed or Mandatory and that’s exactly what would have happened.

Them waiting to rule it as a harsh enough penalty to DQ is a really bad look and kind of unprofessional, it would have been easily averted if they ruled against it but just slapped it with a warning instead to stop using it.
glad I wasnt the only one who started craving a sundae lol

This would be great if Blizzard didn’t go all in on designing the game around the MDI & Race to World First crowd.

No I do not agree with the disqualification. It was an arbitrary ruling using a nonsense interpretation of a rule that doesn’t even address the supposed infraction. Potions are not gear.

I am sure that will be what happens in the future. Well either that or they will remove all of the old tournament vendors all together.

Yeah I have no clue but I’m guessing either another team or another team viewer noticed it and waited until the end of the day to mention it.
Maybe that’s tinfoil hat but that was my first thought
What are the rules? Do you know? Can you share them?
As far as I know there is a stipulation in the TOS that it is against the terms using anything in the game to gain an unfair advantage or functions different from the original design of the intended content. It’s worded in such a way that technically, yes you can use the same methods as everyone has access to it, but since it falls into a specific category, then it’s breaking the terms of use.

Exactly, the only part of the game Blizz televises is M+ and RWF… so of course that had a huge impact.
I get when people say that most players are more casual, either doing low keys or no keys at all. But until Blizz starts streaming delve races and world quest events that then keys and mythic raiding will be what people see.
If you sign up for time trials you can see the full rules or you can find them on a lot of sites like raider io
To sum it up the only specific rule is the one that’s been discussed stating no GEAR from outside Dornogal is permitted.
I’m guessing Blizz used the all encompassing “at our sole discretion,” clause to make the DQ. And I have no problem with them making a judgement call but they dropped the ball here for multiple reasons.
The potion effect was negligible, as far as dps, but clearly they thought it was enough to use it so I won’t totally excuse Dorki on this… and even small exploits are exploits.
Speaking of that Blizz is too inconsistent with punishments, sometimes it’s DQ, sometimes it’s a time punishment, sometimes it’s a warning and there is no rhyme or reason. Again this goes back to the vague “at our discretion.”
They used it all day and the notification came afterwards, when they had no time to make it up. Had Blizz mentioned it earlier and lowered their keys it would have been a punishment but at least they cools have had a chance to redo them.
The way they handled it makes it look like they have some agenda to a lot of people. I’m not sure about that, I think they’re just incompetent.
Hahaha I love being “out of the loop,” I can cherry pick what I find entertaining or delicious and still have a voice in the conversation. Mmm. Cherries.
Cherry topped sundae, ima go to carvel on the way home now.

Seems a massive stretch in “assuming” there but … you’re not wrong. It’s possible …
I’m about to hit 3k and I’m currently 9,219th warrior DPS in the world. So yes, there are a ton of warriors over 3k.

Classic half baked Blizzard tournament once again. Reminder folks we had a 50k Plunderstorm Tournament won with a terrain exploit. Never believe Blizzard will make a half decent competition.

Entire groups using Parasol Toys to exploit shortcuts in Rookery is perfectly fine, but a single player pre-potting a crafted potion is prohibidabido! Make that make sense…

100% agree.
Even more telling is the fact that other teams reportedly asked if it was allowed…
This just feels like such a ‘gotcha’ when there is nothing in the rules that even talk about consumables.
Like how hard would it be to throw up a discord channel for MDI rule clarifications or the equivalent when they do exactly that for RWF.
